Crysis Weekly Update
#5 on Crymod Modding Portal offers the weekly status report on the upcoming
version 1.2 patch. Included is a video showing off new features in the patch,
which is still undergoing quality assurance testing.
A second Alone in the Dark tech demo trailer offers another look at the upcoming
adventure/horror game, showing off more of the interactivity from the game. Word
is: "Expanding upon the first tech demo, the second video further demonstrates
the huge role that physics plays in the game; from manipulating objects with the
analog stick, to forming makeshift torches using flammable objects, the world
responds in a way that’s realistic and engrossing." The clip can be found on

Telltale Games unveils Chariots of the Dogs as the fourth episode in season two
of the Sam & Max series, to debut on March 13 on
GameTap and the following day
everywhere else (and here we thought no one would ever make an Erich von Däniken
joke again). A
Chariots of
the Dogs Product Page is live with a trailer and some screenshots, where
word is:
Bosco's vanished from the face of the Earth—literally! When Sam &
Max manage to track him down, what they find is so mind boggling, you'll have to
see it to believe it. Can the Freelance Police set things right, or will life as
they know it fall victim to the capricious whims of T-H-E-M?
The
Soldak
Entertainment Website now offers a new patch for Depths of Peril, updating
the action/RPG to version 1.009. The
Changes
Notes outline what's different in the patch, which is mirrored on
The Patches Scrolls.
GameCyte points out something
interesting following EA's recent stab at acquiring Take-Two Interactive (thanks
Mike). After EA's takeover bid was rejected (
story), a website to
make a public case for the move was launched at
EATake2.com (
story), a
domain that was registered privately through a proxy service, but that we now
know belongs to EA. GameCyte points out the striking similarity of the domain
EAUbisoft.com, which was registered at the same time as EATake2.com by the same
proxy, which makes it seem extremely likely that EA owns this domain as well.
What is less certain is whether this means EA is actually actively looking to
increase their 19.9% stake in Ubisoft (
story) or were picking up the URL just in case they
decided to do so in the future.
Codemasters announces
Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is shipping in the US for PC, Xbox 360, and
PS3, with the UK retail release of the alternate-history shooter slated for
March 14. Some
new screenshots accompany the announcement, which is dated yesterday. Here
goes:
Tuesday, 26th February, 2008 – 11am PST – Presenting explosive
action in a unique and provocative World War II scenario, Turning Point®: Fall
of Liberty™, the alternate reality shooter from Spark Unlimited™, is now
shipping to U.S. retail stores nationwide Codemasters® announced today; the
title’s UK launch will follow on March 14th .
Pitching gamers into a WWII like no other, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is set
in an alternate 1953 where, following the fall of Europe, Nazi forces launch an
invasion on the gateway to the United States. Opening with decimating attack on
New York, players assume the role of construction worker Dan Carson caught in
the middle of the blitzkrieg.
As the city is taken block by block, players must survive the initial assault
before regrouping with a team of resistance workers and lead a fight back
against the oppressors. With the Third Reich’s sights set on the seat of
government, the action takes players to Washington D.C. and, eventually, to a
startlingly different London, which has been flying the Swastika under Nazi rule
for over a decade.
Prepare to fight afresh on these very different WWII battlegrounds when Turning
Point: Fall of Liberty arrives for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment
system from Microsoft®, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and
Games for Windows®. See Carson in action and join the resistance online at

A
Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon Product Section reveals this
vampire-themed adventure game in development at
Kheops Studio (thanks
Gamer's Hell),
presumably a sequel to Dracula 2: The Last Sanctuary and Dracula: Resurrection.
The game has modest system requirements, and will be released in English and
French (as development is being assisted by
Centre
National de la Cinématographie) sometime this year. Here's a
bit:
September 1920, the Vatican appoints Father Arno Moriani, the
"Devil's Advocate", to investigate a potential candidate for sainthood in
Transylvania. But in the shadows of the disturbing ruins that were once Vlad the
Impaler's castle, his investigation takes an unexpected turn...
There is obviously no (such) thing as vampires... at least according to the
official line of the Catholic Church. But how can you be so sure, standing in
the swirling mists of Transylvania ?
Carry out your investigation amidst tales of bloody deeds and ancestral fears.
Doubts start clouding your mind and doubt begets fear...
InstantAction Teams with Live Gamer announces real money trading will come
to
InstantAction this year.
According to GarageGames CEO Josh Williams, this "gives our gamers a fun,
secure and fully sanctioned environment to safely trade virtual items
accumulated in our games." One argument against RMTs is that games should be fun
enough to make you want to play them, but if he's right about RMTs being "fun,"
maybe their advocates will start arguing against playing games at all.
Is Racing Gaming On Its Last Lap? on Next Generation assembles a panel of
developers representing several racing franchises (MotorStorm, the Project
Gotham series, Sega Racing, and Dirt/Race Driver: Grid) discussing the viability
of the genre. While they don't actually believe racing games are dying, as the
title of the article suggests, they discuss some of the elements that make it
tricky, not the least of which is the polarization between fans of hardcore
simulations and those looking for a more arcade experience.
Okay, I'll admit it, the earlier updates are intentional. The new schedule has
been a been a bit of a pain, but I'm getting used to it. I hope it's working for
you.
