other form of spin off.

servers were running to allow players to pad their stats ( story).
Word is over 700 accounts have been reset as a result of cheating: It is
always our commitment to work to prevent cheating and stat padding as part of an
ongoing process. After the problems brought to light recently we have been
working with the Ranked Server Providers to bring the stat padding to an end as
well as dealing with those who have been using the exploit to boost their
scores. Since the problem was detected, we have reset over 700 accounts of
players found to be padding and will continue to do so whilst we secure the
ranking system from future attacks. Please report any servers or players you
suspect of cheating and/or padding to EA Customer Support through the website at

Shacknews has a
correction to reports they posted earlier that the US edition of Age of Conan
will be censored in North America, saying they've learned from Funcom that the
NA edition of the MMORPG will not be censored, and will be rated "Mature" by the
ESRB. The earlier reports stated that the game would contain nipples that would
not be shown in the US edition, but the subsequent clarification of the game's
"M" rating says it will not contain any nudity. The original report also
correctly stated the German edition of the game will have some of its violence
cut.

Planet
Battlefield has more new details on Battlefield Heroes as skinny (some of it just semi-accurate) about the free-to-play installment in DICE's shooter series continues to
slowly drip out. They have a bunch of bullet points based on an article in the
latest issue of Games For Windows magazine that outline the abilities of
a few classes (Soldier, Commando, and Gunner), how scoring will work, a bit on
in-game items, and gameplay factors like shorter spawn times, how vehicles spawn
when you arrive at proper location, how firefights will be longer, and the
game's support for "lone
wolf" gameplay. There's also a bit that sheds more confusion on the question of
whether this will be a third-person game ( story) or not
( story), as it says the "entire game is 3rd person," but then
qualifies that, suggesting like Vizzini in The Princess Bride, the word "entire"
doesn't mean what someone thinks it means: "Entire game is 3rd person so you can see
the customizations your player has. Also allows you to see your player blown
into the air. If 1st person is really wanted it can be changed over time."
MCV
has word that Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will make its announced release window
( story), as the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 editions of the tactical
shooter sequel are all expected to be released on March 21, 2008.
Lighthouse Interactive and dtp Entertainment announce March 28 as the new
release date for Belief & Betrayal, the religion-themed adventure game that's
been available in Europe since last year. Belief and betrayal is a good way to
describe game release dates, as they involve the belief these dates will be met
and the occasional betrayal when they are not. Apropos to that, Belief &
Betrayal has been delayed a few times ( story and
story), but this release date fits in the last announced window
of first quarter of this year. The announcement is accompanied by
some new screenshots.
The
NVIDIA AGEIA PhysX Acquisition Q&A on FiringSquad talks with NVIDIA's Derek
Perez about the acquisition of AGEIA, a fellow all-caps hardware company. He
uses the same "heterogeneous computing model" phrase used yesterday to announce
the move ( story), an interesting take, since it sounds like they
plan to homogenize AGEIA's PPU onto their GPUs, saying "Physics is a natural for
processing on the GPU." As for existing stand-alone PhysX cards, he says: "We
will continue to support the current line of Ageia products that are on the
market today."
