mention he's a mutant?). The 100 MB download is mirrored on

The
Hellgate: London Website has a post with a general outline of what is
described as the "TONS of new content for subscribers" to Flagship's coming
action/RPG (thanks
Voodoo Extreme), saying paying subscribers will get access to additional
weapons, monsters, and even character classes, among other things. This
additional subscriber content is one of the topics in the
Q&A with Bill Roper
on Shacknews, an article-format conversation about premium content, as well
as changes being made to the game based on feedback from the beta.

EA and Crytek announce that Crysis is gold, and the science fiction first-person
shooter will be in stores as expected on November 16: The year’s biggest
PC game has just gotten that much closer to hitting store shelves. Crysis,
Crytek’s next-generation first person shooter for the PC has gone gold and will
be on store shelves everywhere November 16, 2007.
“We are extremely proud of what we have been able to accomplish with Crysis,”
said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “We wanted to push the boundaries both visually
and with open-ended, non-linear gameplay and we believe the end result delivers
that vision.”
The current single player demo, available in DX10 and DX9, has given gamers
their first taste of the immersive, non-linear Crysis experience. Highlighted by
Crytek’s open-ended level design and the game’s Nanosuit gameplay mechanic,
which challenges gamers to analyze and approach every individual encounter
before acting, Crysis delivers a completely new and refreshing FPS gameplay
experience.
Of course, the single player demo also features the stunning, award-winning
graphics powered by Crytek’s revolutionary CryENGINE 2. Assistance from key
partners such as NVIDIA, Intel and Microsoft have helped make Crysis one of the
most anticipated PC games of all time.
“Crytek and EA are rewarding PC gamers with the world’s most technologically
advanced video game,” said Roy Taylor, vice president of content at NVIDIA. “Our
programmers are intensely proud to have helped Crytek push the boundaries of
interactivity and immersion. The game was developed and tested on NVIDIA, and we
recommend GeForce 8800-Series graphics cards for the best experience.”

DX 10 Features in Windows XP - MUST SEE on the Crysis Forums offers a tip on
improving the visuals in the Crysis demo under DirectX 9, saying the game can be
coaxed into looking more like the game running under DirectX 10 without using
Vista (thanks
ActionTrip). On that topic, there are
DirectX 9 and 10 comparison
screenshots on this page (thanks Ant and
Digg). Here's word on the tweak, which is obviously going to require pretty
good hardware to run smoothly: If you tweak the configuration files in
\CVarGroups\ by copying and pasting the "very high" settings (1st paragraph) IN
PLACE of the "high" settings (last paragraph) the game will load the highest
possible settings even though the drop-down menus display "high."
The History
Channel: Great Battles Video Game Series Continues announces HISTORY
CHANNEL: Great Battles of the Middle Ages, a new next installment in this
television-branded gaming series planned for release next year: Following
the success of THE HISTORY CHANNEL Great Battles of Rome video game, THE HISTORY
CHANNEL and Slitherine Strategies announce the development of a new title in the
series, THE HISTORY CHANNEL Great Battles of the Middle Ages. The game will
feature a new engine optimized for next generation consoles and will be released
in 2008.
“The huge commercial success of our first release has pointed us in the right
direction,” said Iain McNeil, Director of Slitherine. “For us it’s a fresh
challenge to develop a game that will embrace new audiences of the next-gen
consoles. It’s also an opportunity to listen to the community of thousands of
players we established with THE HISTORY CHANNEL Great Battles of Rome. We are
sure we will match their expectations with the release of our next title.”
The new title is based on the story of the Hundred Years War and will release
next year. It will feature a completely new graphic engine and a totally new
game play system that will allow the player to be in complete control of massive
armies. From the thunderous charge of the knights to the men-at-arms fighting
for their lives in hand-to-hand combat, the game will recreate the epic feel of
medieval battles, featuring thousands of characters simultaneously.
THE HISTORY CHANNEL Great Battles of the Middle Ages will integrate film clips
from THE HISTORY CHANNEL programming library.
"The success of THE HISTORY CHANNEL Great Battles of Rome was the result of
close collaboration between Slitherine Strategies and THE HISTORY CHANNEL,"
added Carrie Trimmer, Director of Licensing at A&E Television Networks, parent
company of The History Channel. ”The combination of an innovative game engine
and contextual programming content made for truly experiential gameplay. We
anticipate even greater success with this new title.”
"Our licensing relationship with THE HISTORY CHANNEL allows us to maintain focus
on the accurate historical detail that we always aim for," said JD McNeil,
Business Development Director of Slitherine. "We know how difficult it is to
create a game that is not only accurate from a historical perspective, but also
allows players to enjoy exciting and compelling game play. With a decade of
successful launches, we’re confident that we can give players the gaming
experience they require from us."
The game follows on the release of THE HISTORY CHANNEL Great Battles of Rome
earlier this year which has topped the charts in 5 European countries on the
PlayStation® 2, PSP® and PC DVD Rom formats.
Four new Bionic Commando gameplay movies are now available, showing off Capcom's

It was interesting watching the Giants play in England yesterday, though a
soccer pitch is an odd place to play the other kind of football, as the
intentionally slick nature of the grass on a pitch combined with the rain to
create a bit of a circus. The weirdest thing, however, was the fans all blowing
whistles; from the cheering, the British audience clearly understood the nuances
of the game, but seemed unfamiliar with how whistles have an official role in
the game. There were more than a couple of instances where players seemed to stop
before the play was over, presumably due to the whistles.
