Kotaku Australia reports that Soldier of Fortune Payback has been refused
classification by the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification
(OFLC), though Activision claims this is unrelated to the release date setback
the game has suffered in Australia that will not impact other territories. This
means the game will have to be reworked to be sold down under, but also should
reassure fans of the series that Payback contains the graphic violent content
for which earlier installments in the mercenary shooter series were notorious.

Man it's getting dark earlier and earlier… I hate that. Oh well, I can't let
that stand in my way, as we still have leftover ground beef. Fire up the outdoor

tomorrow: San Francisco, CA (October 16, 2007) – Demons of London beware!
Your reign of terror is officially coming to an end! Electronic Arts, Namco
Bandai Games, and Flagship Studios are excited to announce that Hellgate™:
London has gone to gold master and will be available exclusively for the PC on
October 31st in North America.
"This has been an amazing journey for us and we couldn't be more proud of what
we've accomplished," said Flagship Studios CEO, Bill Roper. "We're anxious to
get Hellgate: London into gamers' hands and we can't wait to play right along
with them."
And for gamers who can't wait until Halloween to get their Demon-slaying on,
Flagship Studios is releasing a singleplayer demo this Friday, October 19th.
The singleplayer demo represents just a small taste of the Hellgate: London
experience. Gamers can choose from two of the game's six character classes: the
Blademaster, a master of swordplay and action-packed melee combat, or the
Marksman, a cool, calculating, long-range specialist.
In the demo, these heroes are able to battle through a small handful of
storyline and side quests as they adventure through the streets and tunnels
around London's Holborn Station.
Hellgate: London combines the depth of role-playing games and the action of
first-person shooter titles, while offering infinite playability with
dynamically generated levels, items, enemies, and events. Whether online or off,
a player creates a heroic character, completes quests, and battles through
innumerable hordes of demons to advance through experience levels and branching
skill paths. A robust, flexible skill and spell system, highly customizable
appearances, and a massive variety of randomly generated equipment allow players
to create their own unique hero.

Such Things That Never Was, a blog devoted to cancelled media, offers a list
of "18 canceled games you never knew existed unless you worked on them" (thanks
Kotaku Australia). One of the games on the list that we actually have heard
of is Deus Ex 3, the action/RPG follow-up. There is no accompanying explanation
for how they know the game is cancelled, but development of the game has never
actually been confirmed either ( story), so the fairest way to
characterize this is the rumored cancellation of a rumored sequel. Update:
This note has been added to the mention of Deus Ex 3: "Eidos announced back in
May that their Montreal studio will be makng [sic] a new Deus Ex 3 different
from the one canceled."
A demo for Zoo Tycoon 2: Extinct Animals is now available, offering the chance

separate patch is because the US edition uses SecureROM for copy protection,

I still haven't cracked open my copy of The Orange Box, as I decided to start
off by playing through Half-Life 2 again. I'm going to bust open TOB out today
to check out TF2, and have a quickie with Portal, but it's been a load of fun
replaying HL2 in the meantime.
