The
Evochron Renegades Website announces the release of this "Freeform Space
Combat - Trader and Mercenary Simulator," StarWraith 3D Games' follow-up to
Evochron Alliance.
Some screenshots are online and
a playable demo
is available (direct link), the demo is mirrored on
3D Downloads,
FileFront, and Gamer's
Hell. Here's a bit from the announcement: Evochron Renegades features
true freeform gameplay, letting you play the game the way you want to and
defining your role in the game's universe through your actions and decisions.
With gameplay options far beyond the genre's typical trading and combat,
Evochron Renegades lets you perform a variety of activities including racing,
spying, exploring, equipment cleaning, clearing shipping paths of asteroids,
bribing, hiring crew members, transporting, recovering lost items, fuel
harvesting, ship designing, and much more. The game also rewards players who
'think outside the box' by coming up with new ways to advance and survive using
the available trade, combat, and exploration options.
Evochron Renegades features a vast seamless universe that lets you fly anywhere
without loading screens or choppy environment flipping. Fly from planet to
planet, star to star, solar system to solar system seamlessly. You're free to
fly where you want, when you want with open space navigation and onboard jump
drives. There are no required warp gates or trade lanes to hold you back and
restrict your travel. Optional gates are available to simply provide shortcuts
for long distance travel.
The game's environment interaction also goes far beyond the genre's typical
'background wallpaper'. Nebula clouds, asteroid fields, atmospheres, stars,
moons, caves, and planet rings all provide unique options for shelter and
strategy. Such environment effects include changes in gravity, fuel consumption,
physics, sensor range, and visibility.
You are in the action with a first person viewpoint, directly controlling your
ship, including its weapons and equipment. Instead of only letting you click the
mouse a few times just to have the game play itself, Evochron Renegades lets you
make all gameplay decisions directly from the cockpit with complete control over
where you go, how you fight, and what you do in the game.
For the first time in the series, you can join with other players in cooperative
contracts and share the rewards. Players can now join forces to take on far more
difficult objectives, including destroying massive capital ships armed with beam
weapons, missiles, and particle cannons.
The full release is now available for X
Motor Racing, a realistic racing simulator developed independently by
Exotypos. The game is available
for online purchase from
this page, while those interested in a test drive should swing by
this page where there is
a multilingual demo of version 1.0 playable in English, German, Italian, French,
and Russian. The demo is mirrored on
3D Downloads,
FileFront, and Gamer's
Hell.
The debut release of the
First Strike BF2142 Modification is now available (thanks exfelon), offering
owners of Battlefield 2142 gameplay based on a science fiction theme set a long
time ago in a galaxy far far away. While I would never try to force someone into
being a rebel, it would seem prudent for anyone who want to C3PO this mod should
grab it before the storm troopers show up and freeze it in carbonite. Perhaps
these fears are unfounded, as they state: "We have been very careful in not to
evoke the holy ones wrath (Mr G Lucas) by sticking to core acceptable usage
policies."
A new Command & Conquer Movies Page
is online (thanks Ant and
Planet Command &
Conquer), which turns out to be the secret project for C&C's 12th
anniversary previously teased by community manager "Apoc" (revealed in last
nights Battlecast Primetime broadcast on
Command & Conquer TV). The
site offers a one-stop location to find most of the FMV sequences from the
history of the RTS series.
It's hard enough being a fan of a team in freefall, but it's almost like the
Mets are trying to make it worse. Virtually the moment the team dropped into a tie for first place just a
couple of weeks after being up by seven games they chose to send me the
following email: "Thank you for participating in the online random drawing for
the opportunity to purchase tickets for potential 2007 Mets postseason games
scheduled to be played at Shea Stadium. While your entry was not selected to
purchase tickets for potential National League Championship Series games, you do
remain registered for random drawings for opportunities to purchase tickets for
potential 2007 World Series games scheduled to be played at Shea, should the
Mets participate, and for any additional Championship Series drawings."
