SAN RAFAEL, CA, September 26, 2007 – The innovative Sam & Max series continues
to break new ground this fall with an unprecedented second season of episodic
games, starting with the most ancient and powerful opponent the duo have ever
faced: Santa Claus!
Interactive entertainment pioneer Telltale Inc. and GameTap, the
first-of-its-kind broadband entertainment network from Turner Broadcasting
System, Inc., revealed today that the first episode of Sam & Max Season Two,
"Ice Station Santa," will debut on November 8, 2007 for GameTap subscribers at
www.gametap.com. The following day, on
November 9, the premiere episode will be released worldwide from Telltale's
website www.telltalegames.com.
"The Telltale crew has been living with these characters for quite a while now
and it shows in the work," says Sam & Max creator Steve Purcell. "First seasons
are always the proving ground, so it's great that they get the chance to take
Sam & Max through a new season of ever more bizarre and hilarious episodes."
"Ice Station Santa" puts a whole new spin on the season of giving, peace, and
joy. With Christmas presents on the attack and carols of gunshots drowning out
the bells, Sam & Max must storm the North Pole to bring down a less-than-jolly
foe. Can they make sense of this Christmas conundrum in time to save the world's
children from a holiday tainted by tears, turmoil, and Torture-Me-Elmer?
"Sam & Max was our first GameTap Original title and it proved that episodic
gaming can be truly successful," said Ricardo Sanchez, GameTap's VP of Content
and Creative Director. "We're excited to be working with Telltale again to bring
another great season of Sam & Max to our subscribers."
Each new Sam & Max episode will launch on GameTap on the second Thursday of the
month, followed one day later by its worldwide premiere on
www.telltalegames.com. After "Ice
Station Santa" in November, Episode 2 is scheduled for January 10 for GameTap
subscribers and January 11 worldwide. Monthly releases will continue up through
the season finale in April, for a total of five games in Season Two.
"Season One was a groundbreaking accomplishment, but it's only the beginning,"
says Telltale's CEO Dan Connors. "For Season Two, we have taken all the best
elements of the first season and improved on them even more. Telltale is
cranking the whole episodic experience up another notch and you can expect a
very enjoyable six months."
As with Sam & Max Season One, customers can purchase the full Season Two set or
individual episodes from Telltale, or play the games as part of a subscription
to GameTap. Full pricing information, along with brand new "Ice Station Santa"
screenshots, video and additional Season Two details, can be found at

A couple of folks wrote in about an ad here that popped up, which is bad enough
in itself, but even worse, opened a new window when you tried to close it. My
apologies for that… I believe this has been addressed, but if
that or any similar bad behavior rears its head, please let me know (feel free
to express anger, I would too) so I can go medieval on someone.

The
Bizarre Creations Website announces that Activision has purchased the
developer of the Project Gotham Racing series as well as sort-of spin-off
Geometry Wars. The update makes it clear that this move was not necessitated by
any financial woes, there will be no redundancies (firings) as a result, and
that they will not become "Activision Liverpool." What will change, however, is
that they will become much more of a multiplatform developer. Here's a bit from
the announcement, which teases two upcoming "AAA" titles, a racing game and a
"character game": The perfect solution for us is to join the ranks of
Activision, alongside their other talented studios. It's a pretty incredible
chance for Bizarre to improve ourselves and make the most of all the fantastic
new opportunities this opens up. Also, given the excellent support Activision
offer this can mean only one thing: better games.
This is fundamentally a different deal than some you've seen around the industry
recently. Bizarre isn't a developer in financial trouble, and we're certainly
not looking to be "saved" by a bigger corporation. We're a dev looking to take
our games to the next level, and make the absolute best products we can possibly
make. Likewise, Activision is not in the business of "buying out" struggling
developers either.
As you can imagine then, Bizarre are very happy with this move. Here's the
lowdown:
>> Bizarre Creations continues to exist as is. We won't
become Activision Liverpool or anything like that.
>> We will have absolutely no redundancies.
>> All of our teams continue to exist exactly how they are at
the moment. Amax team (PGR4) and Shitstorm team (The Club) will move onto new
games, whilst our Shared Technology team will use this opportunity to take our
experience and tech to new levels and new formats.
>> The Activision way of running things is "hands off".
Bizarre continue to have creative control over what we do, we still run the
studio how we see fit, and we still get to run our own web site and do all sorts
of fun community things! :)
Let's talk games then... that's why we're all here after all. Well, we're no
longer tied to just one platform for starters. Our future titles can be on
whatever we please - we are a truly multiplatform studio now. Of course that
doesn't mean that we'll be forced to make a port of every game to every console
in existence... we simply have that option available to us.
Both of our two main game teams are about to start work on two new AAA titles
for Activision. One will be a racing game, and the other a character game. Of
course we'll make some more detailed announcements in the future, but be
prepared for something big and exciting!
This press release
officially announces Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm, the
expansion for Relic's RTS game that was recently unveiled by a magazine cover
image ( story). Here's word on the expansion, due in the spring,
which will be a standalone release, not requiring the original game to
play: THQ Inc. today announced Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm,
the next standalone chapter in internal studio Relic Entertainment's
award-winning Real-Time Strategy (RTS) franchise, is scheduled for release on

brutally addictive single and multiplayer game-play that will hook newcomers and
skilled Dawn of War veterans alike."

planet to an entire star system," said Tarrnie Williams, general manager, Relic
Entertainment. "Allowing gamers to play nine unique races, introducing air units
and providing multiplayer achievements for the first time creates a tremendous
amount of new and challenging strategic gameplay for all players."
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm is set in Games Workshop's Warhammer
40,000 universe - a dark, futuristic, fantasy setting where armies of
technologically advanced warriors, fighting machines and hordes of implacable
aliens wage constant war - and is played by millions worldwide. Executive
produced and co-developed by Relic Entertainment in association with Iron Lore

standalone title and will feature two all-new armies, including the malicious
Dark Eldar, for an unprecedented total of nine playable races. In addition to
new units across each of the seven existing races, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War

revolutionary meta-game introduced in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Dark
Crusade is further expanded to an interplanetary scale in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn
of War - Soulstorm, allowing players to battle across an entire star
system.

This is more painful to the wallet than the mouth, all the more so
