Sega announces a delay to The Club, as Bizarre Creations' third-person shooter
was announced as a 2007 release, but that has been pushed to February, 2008. The
announcement also mentions the PC as one of the game's target platforms, which
we don't recall being officially declared following the game's
initial announcement as a console game. There is, however, an
E3
2007 The Club preview on GameSpot ( story) as well as GC 2007
The Club previews on
GameSpy and IGN
( story) in each site's respective PC section, but in each case a
console edition was previewed. Here's the announcement of the delay, which
mentions the PC edition: SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced the ship
date of The Club™ will be February 2008 in North America for the PLAYSTATION®3
computer entertainment system, Xbox 360™ videogame and entertainment system and
PC. From acclaimed developer Bizarre Creations, The Club takes the explosive
action of the shooter genre and blends it with break-neck speed of high-octane
race titles to create a radically new kind of action experience.
Only the most ruthless killers can join the underground elite known as The Club,
where the world’s rich and powerful watch merciless fighters test their skills
through secretive tournaments. While highly trained and effectively brutal, most
combatants find themselves forced to participate. The posse of urban warriors
represents a variety of countries and backgrounds. They share almost nothing in
common except for participating in the ultimate blood sport where the greatest
reward is survival.
Players will choose between eight unique fighters, each with their own combat
style and agendas, as they travel the globe in a series of visceral urban
battlefields. In addition to a variety of single-player scenarios, The Club
boasts an array of multiplayer options to satisfy even the most discerning
action aficionado.

Demo versions of ThreadSpace:
Hyperbol have been reset, giving demo users the chance to sample the
Objective maps, which have been added to the demo: With the release of the
1.06 patch, we decided to enhance the demo version by including all objective
maps. This should give a first-time player some better variety for the maps they
can play on. We have also reset all demo expiration times, so if you ran out of
time on your demo, you'll be able to check out the game some more :-)
Another thing worth mentioning for the 1.06 patch is that we have integrated
several Steam features, including the Steam Community system. It took some work
to get it all running since Hyperbol isn't a Source game.
Also, a new
Iocaine Studios Blog is online,
offering a retrospective on the game's development.

Well picking up Frans yesterday went as smoothly as could be expected. I risked
getting lost by taking an unfamiliar route to the airport, but that worked out,
though arriving around the time his plane landed left me with an extended wait
as he made his way though customs and immigration. It all worked out eventually,
though. One unfortunate incident was last night when the Gunnar-man went off on
a top-volume barking jag a few hours after our jet-lagged visitor hit the hay.
It's something our little poodle had never done before, and it was certainly a
bad time for him to start. Brushing aside sleep depravation, Frans is off to
Manhattan today to do some site-seeing.
