Soldak Entertainment
announces that Depths of Peril, their action/RPG is now on sale: Dallas,
Texas, September 05, 2007 - Soldak Entertainment today announced the
availability of Depths of Peril for Windows PCs.
Depths of Peril can be purchased at:
http://www.soldak.com/content/blogcategory/29/66/
Depths of Peril is a single player action role-playing game (RPG) with strong
strategy elements. You play as a faction leader protecting the barbarian city,
Jorvik, by destroying threatening monsters and completing quests. At the same
time, you compete with rival factions to see who will rule the city. Barbarians
choose their leaders by fighting to the death!
As a faction leader, you must deal with rival factions through diplomacy, trade,
and in time, war. Between battles and raids against other barbarian factions,
you build the most powerful faction possible, to withstand your enemies.
Building the power of a faction involves exploring a fantasy world, slaying
dangerous monsters, solving quests for the city, avoiding deadly traps, and
plundering loot to share within your faction.
But in this world, actions actually have consequences, so take care. Annoying
the powerful and aggressive Legion of Fear faction will cause them to declare
war and destroy you. Ignored orc uprisings in the Black Forest might lead to
attacks on the town or even more trouble. Protect ally covenants that are being
raided, because friends are hard to come by.

'Industry' has a new player with Master P (thanks
FiringSquad) reports on a collaboration between rapper Master P and actor
Seth Green to create a role-playing game with a hip-hop musical theme to fill
the questionable void left by the demise of Hip-Hop Legends
( story). Details are scant at this point, but here's a
bit: The video game world is bringing together the unlikely duo of rapper
Master P and actor Seth Green.
Master P's P Miller Enterprises is partnering on the development of an original
hip-hop-themed role-playing game with Green and Matthew Senreich of Stoopid
Monkey Prods. ("Robot Chicken") and ShadowMachine Films ("Moral Orel").
"Play the Industry" will enable gamers to enter a 3-D world and then work their
way through up to stardom either as an athlete, power broker, hip-hop artist or
other character.
Many of the details are being worked out, including whether this will be a
disc-based or online-only game. But Senreich suggested that the final product
likely will be more akin to "The Sims," the popular online experience from
Electronic Arts, than a fighting or shooting game.
"You can play agent, you can play mogul, you play all sorts of different
characters," Senreich said of "Industry."
Although in its early stages, Stoopid Monkey and ShadowMachine already are
working on a script for the game, talking with developers about taking on the
project and lining up financing. The partners hope to have a developer on board
in the next several months and a release by late 2009.

Last night's report about the Medieval II: Total War Retrofit Mod
( story) was unclear about the fact that the Kingdoms expansion is
required to use this mod, which adds Kingdoms enhancements to the original
Medieval II: Total War. Apologies for any confusion this caused.
Well, a series of traffic mishaps put me over an hour late for my appointment
for my suture removal yesterday, but luckily this is a brief enough process that
they were able to fit me in nonetheless. What's the old joke about enjoying
hitting yourself in the head with a hammer because it feels so good when it
stops? Just like last time, the sutures didn't actually hurt, but it was only
upon their removal that I appreciated how uncomfortable they were.
