- Left 4 Dead
Left
4 Dead Q&A First Details on GameSpot offers a Q&A with Turtle Rock
Studios to shed some light on their upcoming multiplayer Source-engine game:
"Left 4 Dead is a cooperative survivor horror game where four survivors must
work together to escape a city teeming with an overwhelming number of the
infected. If you work together, you have a chance. If you run off on your
own, you will die."
- Stargate Worlds
WarCry
Network's Stargate Worlds Q&A talks with Dan Elggren about the upcoming
Stargate MMORPG: "The major difference players will experience is the need
for real-world tactics. Players and MOBs will have to use appropriate
tactics to defeat their enemies. That means seeking out cover for
protection, maneuvering to flank your foes and using firepower to suppress
the enemy while moving into position to take them out. Real world military
squad-based tactics will work in Stargate Worlds. The last thing we want to
see in our world is a bunny-hopping Jaffa."
- City of Heroes/Villains
There's a
City of Heroes Community Q&A #2 on MMORPG.COM talking with Jack Emmert.
Also, the
CoH Community Quiz on WarCry Network catches up with Cryptic lead
designer Matt Miller to ask some personal questions and to learn more about
City of Heroes/Villains: "The Invention system is the single biggest system
we have added post-launch to the game. It really changes the face of the
game for the hardcore players, by giving them a huge chance to make their
awe-inspiring characters even better with the special crafted Enhancements
they can make. The best part is anything that is a 'reward' can be made
using the Invention system, that means the sky is pretty much the limit on
what players can obtain, including costume pieces."

The
Alan Wake Interview on HEXUS.tv offers video of a conversation with
Markus Mäki, Development Director for Remedy, discussing Alan Wake, Remedy's

Man! After installing the spam filter in my updated AV software, I got caught up
in digging through old spam and all sorts of related nonsense… not a great
plan amid CES nuttiness.

Aspyr announces The Shield has shipped to U.S. stores for the PC and PS2,
recreating the FX crime television series as a third-person action game: THE
SHIELD™ GAME FOR THE PC AND PLAYSTATION®2 SYSTEM SHIPS TO RETAIL STORES
Action Game Based on FX Network’s Police Drama TV Show
AUSTIN, TX (January 9, 2006) - Aspyr Media. Inc. today announced that The
Shield™ game for the PC and PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system has
shipped to retail stores nationwide. Based on the critically acclaimed and
award-winning edgy police drama produced by Fox Television Studios and airing on
the FX Network, this third-person action game is a knockdown, drag’em-out
brawler that takes place in the gritty streets of the Farmington District. The
Shield game brings the TV show to life by featuring the voices of several
favorite cast members, including the series’ star and Emmy® and Golden Globe®
winner Michael Chiklis as Detective Vic Mackey.
In The Shield game, players are able to dive into frenetic-paced gameplay and
interact with the series’ trademark complex characters and unique locations in
15 levels and 33 playable areas. Players take on the role of Detective Vic
Mackey, the tough, street-savvy leader of the elite Strike Team, which is a
special police unit located deep within crime-riddled city streets.
The story of the game follows Vic and the rest of the elite Strike Team as they
struggle to keep the streets of Farmington District safe at all costs. Vic lives
by his own code of ethics, neither bad nor good, and is a different kind of a
cop who is willing to do what it takes to clean up the streets. In order to
succeed, players will need to operate outside the rules by intimidating suspects
with brute force, accepting bribes, and holding incriminating information over
those who don’t agree with Vic’s “ends justify the means” approach to fighting
crime. Players can choose to turn in contraband to keep internal affairs off
their back or place it in their lockers to build up their retirement fund. How a
player chooses to enforce the law can be left out of the police report, as long
as they keep their trail and the streets clean.
Key Game Features
- Experience the volatile dynamics between Vic and his Strike Team as they fight
crime on the streets
- Peek around corners to assess the situation before launching a precise attack
on your targeted perpetrators
- Choose from an array of techniques to break difficult suspects and obtain
information
More information about the game can be found at

The DEFCON
Website offers a new patch to update Introversion Software's game of global
warfare to version 1.3. Word is: "This patch is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH STEAM. If
you run Defcon through Steam you will be upgraded automatically."
I made the mistake of not dealing with my anti-virus software until my
subscription expired and shut the works down. I was pretty amazed that it took
close to an hour to manage the uninstall, reinstall, registration, and
subsequent updates. Gotta love security.
