- Hellgate: London
The
Hellgate: London Q&A on Strategy Informer chats up Bill Roper of
Flagship Studios about their upcoming action/RPG: "We aren’t planning on
releasing mod tools, chiefly because of the secured online component of
Hellgate: London. There are certain aspects of the game where we do
anticipate players creating their own content – such as in ways to track
information, alter the UI and so forth. As for altering graphics, changing
game play and so forth, this is something we just can’t do since we are an
MMO in terms of our online support. It won’t surprise me to see players
create their own single-player content, or multiplayer content that doesn’t
alter the core play experience. In either case, we aren’t currently planning
on providing specific support to enable this. We also haven’t had any
discussions about specifically preventing it – except in the case of the
secured online play, of course."

Curt
Schilling looks to Green Monster for his future on News.com is an
article-format interview with the Red Sox pitcher about his game company,
and plans to create an MMORPG: "I am not getting into this for (fame and
money). Those at GMG will operate on a 50-50 profit share with the employees
in the company. My goal is to reap the rewards with the people who create
it."
- Infinite Interactive
The
Infinite Interactive Q&A on FiringSquad talks with Steve Fawkner about
the status of Seven Kingdoms: Conquest, Warlords V, and more: "Warlords V is
in development, but our main focus has been on getting our first DS, PSP &
Xbox 360 game complete, and that really has just sucked away all of our
spare time. I was very sad that I no longer had time to continue the
Warlords V dev diaries, but I think I will likely return to them after
Christmas as we begin to ramp up some more work on Warlords V."
- BoundlessPlanet
BoundlessPlanet
developers chat about the MMORTS title on GameZone is a Q&A about the
MMORTS with Alexander Adell and Justin Sadowski: "While the concepts and
designs are relatively futuristic (hover tanks, VTOL transports, missile
tanks, etc.), we’ve made an attempt to maintain as many analogies as
possible to modern warfare. Battles are fought on land, sea, and air, using
artillery shells, machine guns, and missiles, and all the vehicles consume
fuel. New players start with very little, but, like most RTS’s, they’re able
to build research facilities and factories that allow them to produce an
increasingly powerful and technologically advanced motorpool."

Best Halloween decoration seen in our neighborhood so far: Several sets of
eyeballs mysteriously peering from within a hedge. Oddest decoration: Those
creepy cobwebs, also decorating hedges, but this time in purple. Maybe these
spiders are Prince fans.

3D
Realms/Third Party Developers Q&A on FiringSquad talks with Scott Miller
about his recent indications that 3D Realms will be taking a more active role in
nurturing third-party developers: "It shouldn't have much of an effect at all,
because DNF is fully internal, and these new projects will be full external.
With the 3D Realms office, it is generally only me who works with external teams
(and soon a Creative Director who will help me), so the impact upon our internal
project is very, very small. The only time there's an impact is when an external
project is near release, and a handful of people within 3DR play through the
game and few times and provide bug finds and play-testing comments. That impact
is about one 30 man-days total, equal to the whole company spending one full day
on the game."
We have a little technical difficulty here at the BlueTower, as a DNS issue has
left us without email. Things will likely be straightened out before too long,
but if you sent along something since last night, chances are it hasn't been
seen yet.
