Archived News:
The Fury Website is online,
offering first details and
screenshots for this upcoming MMORPG that they seem to indicate will launch on May 10 during E3 (thanks
Frans). Word is: Fury is the ultimate competitive online RPG. It takes
the best elements of an MMO - combat, advancement and teamwork - and blends them
with the best elements of an FPS - instant action, fast pacing and diverse game
types.
The dynamic gameplay cycle lets you fight, earn rewards, and use those rewards
to customize your character as much as you want.
Get ready to unleash the Fury!
What the Dev Team are saying about Fury:
"Fury is pure PvP - think WoW Battlegrounds and Guild Wars on steroids mixed
with some Unreal Tournament and Battlefield 2. You get right into the action
without having to grind and most importantly, your skill and knowledge are the
greatest influence on how well you do, not just the color of your gear. – Adam
Carpenter, Lead Designer
"Not only is Fury a game about combat, it’s a min-maxers dream, with the
strongest and most flexible character development system ever. Rather than
fighting, many people will spend more time perfecting their avatar’s
incarnations in order to gain the ultimate edge in battle. – Paul Whipp,
Producer
The Dark Sector Website now offers a
new teaser image for Digital Extremes' upcoming science fiction action game
(thanks Frans). At least we think it is a sci-fi action game, as the image has
this tag line: "Everything you know about Dark Sector is Probably Wrong." Also,
a new Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War -
Dark Crusade teaser page is live. Finally, a barebones

Sierra
Entertainment's new announcement that they are publishing Saber
Interactive's upcoming 4D shooter.

change list outlines
the eleven changes the patch incorporates, including a redone interface.
- Crusade
The
Crusade Q&A on MMORPG.COM talks with David Allen about his just
announced MMORPG: "Artifact/Horizons is old news. They chose their path and
the result of that path is clear for all to see. I prefer to look ahead now.
My passion is with Crusade, and with the combined experience of everything
I’ve been through and learned, as well as the people I am currently teamed
up with, I feel confident that we will deliver a great product. I think the
most important thing I learned was to be very careful who I choose to do
business with. Nothing is more valuable than having a good group of people
one can openly communicate with, and more importantly, people one can trust
and respect. The second most important thing I learned was listen to my gut
and don’t be afraid to say “no” or “goodbye”. Sometimes things just don’t
work out, but instead of 'ending' a relationship, people drag it out for
whatever reasons (fear of conflict, etc.). Overcoming those fears and
learning how to openly communicate the 'truth' with others is very
important. And finally – have fun! If you don’t have fun doing what you do,
how can you expect others to have fun playing what you have built?"
- The Witcher
Breaking
Down The Witcher on Next Generation is a Q&A about CD Project's
action/RPG with Michal Kicinski: "Obviously, North America is very important
to us; it’s quite possibly our key market. In the case of RPGs, next to
Germany, it is the biggest and most receptive market in the world. With a
project as huge as the Witcher, we cannot simply ignore any of the major
markets. Another reason we want to succeed in North America is that opinions
of gamers in the region are truly influential and may resound in other
countries, ultimately contributing to the game’s global popularity."
- Vicious Engine
The
Vicious Engine Q&A on FiringSquad talks with Vicious Circle Software
about their game engine: "First, let me state that the Vicious Engine is a
full featured engine that has everything a development team needs to create
a game from start to finish. No other middleware is necessary, unless the
developer desires to replace a currently existing feature with another 3rd
party solution. The engine allows for fast content production and also
delivers competitive graphics for each of our target platforms."

Gamebunny's
Indie roundtable part 2 rounds up a bunch of independent developers to
conclude their conversation about the game business.

Games Online's Jesper Kyd Q&A talks with the composer about gaming

Had a painful day struggling with my work PC, as the video drivers kept crashing
my system. I was finally able to update my drivers to stop the crashing, but
there is still something wonky... my machine thinks it still has my now-dead 128
MB 9800 Pro card installed when it is in fact a 256 MB 9x00-something (9700 I
think), and it is now running with all sorts of acceleration off, which reminds
you what a pig XP is. Anyway, this has all put me off schedule for attending my
buddy MrCoffee's bachelor party… now that I've caught up with the news, I'll
have to see if it's still practical to catch up with the festivities.
