ParaWorld Delayed Again

SUNFLOWERS announces another delay to ParaWorld, the RTS game that was pushed back to first quarter of this year last summer (story). The game is now due at the end of this August. Here's the latest:

SUNFLOWERS will subject the PC game ParaWorld to a thorough six-month quality assurance process. This will ensure that the title provides a unique, unprecedented real-time strategy game experience and meets the highest quality requirements. The game will be released towards the end of August 2006.

Heusenstamm, 03 February 2006 – SUNFLOWERS, leading producer of computer games and specialist in the Strategy Genre, today announced the new release date for the eagerly expected real-time strategy title ParaWorld: end of August of 2006. The period until the release date will be devoted exclusively to quality assurance processes, e.g. Gameplay Balancing and an intensive, large-scale Multiplayer Test. The title, developed by the Berlin game studio SEK, will be released for PC only. During the entire development phase of the project, the inherent demands regarding the highest possible gaming quality were ensured by ongoing QA processes. SUNFLOWERS and the Studio employ 30 staff for this task alone. Each point of criticism was analysed and discussed, and the outcome was directly implemented in the game.

Adi Boiko, SUNFLOWERS President, explains the decision: “For any real-time strategy title, perfect balancing is of utmost importance. We want to provide the consumer with a unique gaming experience which will satisfy game pros as well as delighting occasional gamers due to the highest possible level of user friendliness and easy access. “

In order to provide ParaWorld Fans with the optimum gaming experience, SUNFLOWERS will use the remaining time until the release date to perform one of the largest-scale Multiplayer tests ever conducted in Germany. The resulting feedback will be directly integrated into the QA phase. Even before its release, ParaWorld is considered one of the most significant forthcoming real-time strategy games. The product transports the player into a parallel world dominated by dinosaurs and three mighty tribes. Side by side seven controllable heroes, the player explores 15 equally atmospheric and dangerous prehistoric scenarios, each consisting of five climatic zones. In the gripping Singleplayer Mode as well as the extensive Multiplayer Mode, ParaWorld impresses with dramatic real-time strategy action. With ParaWorld, SUNFLOWERS contributes significantly to the further development of this popular genre. ParaWorld will be released exclusively for PC towards the end of August 2006.

Morning Q&As

  • The Godfather
The Godfather Q&A on Worthplaying discusses Jersey with designer Steve Smith, learning what exit the upcoming mob game lives near: "Well for one thing most nearly all the business venues in New Jersey begin as Stracci owned locations. Thus when the player begins to take over a couple of these venues and gets the attention of the Straccis, the player – if injured – will need to take care when trying to get to a safe house or clinic. The Straccis will be highly visible on many of the Jersey streets. Also, snooping around the main rail yard can yield some interesting if not altogether dangerous results."

Follow-up: No Tesseraction vs DreamCatcher

Yesterday's story of Tesseraction's legal victory over GMX (story) also referenced a previous story about a still-outstanding legal action the developer has against DreamCatcher Games. A subsequent post to our forums by Tesseraction's Kelly Asay clarifies that this original report (story) was erroneous, and that they have never had a lawsuit against DreamCatcher. According to Kelley: "...there is no Dreamcatcher lawsuit at this moment, the posting was a result of an error - that post was unintentional and it was removed as soon as it was brought to my attention. We are sorry for the error."

Second most annoying thing about having a fax line is junk faxes for penny stocks that show up for no good reason. First most annoying thing is that the jerks that send these things choose to do so in the middle of the night to avoid someone actually picking up the phone.
