Cenega Publishing has updated the release dates for four upcoming projects,
including three titles with new dates that reflect delays.
El Matador is delayed,
as Plastic Reality Technologies' third-person stealth game is now due in Q2
2006, rather than Q3 2005. Also,
The Roots no longer
carries a projected release date, so Tannhauser Gate's RPG's most recent delay
seems to represent a lesson learned about the dangers of such commitments. The
game most recently carried a Q3 2005 release date following a delay from Q2 2005
(
story), which also represented a delay from a February release
(
story), which was also, you guessed it, a delay
(
story) from the game's original release date of Q3 2004
(
story). Likewise, another oft-delayed game no longer carries a
release date, as the May 2005 date no longer appears on the
Creature Conflict: The Clan
Wars Page. Mithis Games' turn-based action/strategy game was announced with
a September 2004 release date before being delayed until February 2005
(
story) and then April 2005 (
story). Cenega also
narrows down the date for
UFO: Aftershock, which specifies September 2005 in place of the more general
Q3 2005, while Konami has likewise gotten more detail-oriented on a couple of
its projects, updating
Crime Life: Gang Wars with a 9 September 2005 release date in place of Q3
2005, and
The Regiment with a 30 September 2005 release date in place of Q3 2005.
Thanks

A new patch is now available for Pariah, updating Digital Extremes' first-person
shooter to version 1.02. The 24 MB download is a cumulative update,
incorporating the version 1.01 patch changes as well. The patch is available on
the Groove Games Website,
and details on the update are in the
Readme.
The
Halo
Custom Edition Website has a new HaloCE dedicated server hotfix version 1.07
(thanks
HBO). The update protects against
the possibility that the server will be disrupted by malformed data sent by a
malicious client. Also a
Mac Halo Updater 1.5.2
is now available, bringing the Mac edition in line with the PC version of the
game. Thanks
Frans.
The
Warcraft III
Bonus Maps Page now offers the latest bonus map for the Frozen Throne
expansion for Blizzard's RTS game (thanks
Frans). Here's the deal on Everfrost:
"Hidden deep within the wintry crags of Everfrost is a realm of dark Nerubian
horrors, protecting their frozen crypt from those that seek gold and wealth.
Only when working together can these chilling nightmares be defeated and
vanquished under ice forever."
The
Battlecruiser Online Website
(thanks
Frans) has an update on how their upcoming Universal Combat products
will be distributed, following their split with publisher DreamCatcher
(
story). Here's the deal:
We are in the process of
stripping some Dreamcatcher created content (e.g. main menu graphic, animation
logo, EULA etc) from the recently Gold UCAWA build. Once that is complete, the
installer updated, everything tested etc, we will be releasing the product via
our e-commerce partners.
The products page now has the final pricing info for the next two upcoming
products (UCG and UCAWA). UCG is $19.99; and UCAWA is $29.99.
There will no longer be a UC to UCAWA upgrade product available (previously
priced at $19.99). As such, UCAWA will be approximately 650MB download size. For
those on a dial-up connection, most e-commerce sites have the ability to burn
your purchase to CD-ROM. Some charge a fee; some others do not. We will be
publishing a list of all e-commerce partners carrying the product, when the
links go live.
There are currently NO plans to release a boxed retail version of UCG or UCAWA.
UCAWA is expected to be available in June.
UCG is also expected to be available in June; with July being the worse case
scenario.
The
Guild Wars Website
(thanks
Frans) has some details on a patch for ArenaNet's MMORPG that should be
released next week sometime. The update will include enhanced local language
support, add an offers consent requirement before initiating Guild battles, a
change to Rune identification, and adds new boss monster locations.
A
DOOM3 Wiki is now
online, collecting and sharing information on creating and enhancing DOOM 3 maps
and modifications.
It's pouring rain here, with some serious thunder and lightning, there was a bit
of this last night as well. The neat thing is that Hudson the wonder dog has
been much less bothered by this than she historically has been. Normally
thunderstorms leave her freaked out and trembling, but it seems the presence of
young Gunnar, who is as unphased by thunder as he is by everything else, has had
a significant impact on her in this regard, and she is only mildly freaked out.
