A new Ghost Recon 3 Website is online as the Flash home to the upcoming tactical shooter sequel, serving up a bunch of new Xbox 360 screenshots. Also, a new official Myst V Website is online, dedicated to the next installment in the mysterious adventure series. The Flash site features five new screenshots, and there's another new shot from the game on Myst Worlds. Thanks Frans.

HL2 Aftermath Retail Plans

Eurogamer has word from Valve Software on plans for a retail release of Half-Life 2: Aftermath, the upcoming expansion for their first-person shooter sequel. The report says the add-on is due in September, and they are finalizing a deal with a new publisher for retail distribution. Last month it was announced that as part of a legal settlement, Vivendi Universal Games will cease distributing the retail versions of Valve's games as of August 31 of this year (story), leaving open the possibility that the Aftermath add-on would only be available digitally via Steam. Valve partnered with Activision for the retail release of Day of Defeat (story) in what was termed at the time as a multi-title deal, but there isn't a clear indication who Valve is working with at this point.

Morning Q&As

  • Destineer
Gamecloud's Destineer Q&A talks with Peter Tamte about what the future hold for the developer of Close Combat: First to Fight: "Lots of games promise authenticity. But, very few deliver it. Close Combat defined military authenticity nearly 10 years ago with the premise that war is a conflict between people. Close Combat incorporated the human aspects of leading men in battle into the game. Still to this day, no other military RTS can claim authenticity like Close Combat can."
  • Music
Gamecloud's Video Games Live Q&A talks with Tommy Tallarico about plans for a video game music concert tour "Oh yeah! Our intention is to start out in the first leg by hitting 25 major North American cities. Places like the Hollywood Bowl, Red Rocks in Colorado, Chastaine Park in Atlanta, Tweeter Center in Boston, etc. Our hopes are then to add 100 more locations all over the world! But yes... we intend on touring this every year from now on. Because there are always great new games coming out each year it will give us lots of variety to change things up a little and add to things we currently have."

Out of the Blue

And sadly, Deadwood concludes. Gripping stuff all season from what I feel is the best show on television, and I can only hope they will stick to the plan and get season three on the air next year, and not suffer the maddening delays that have hurt the momentum of The Sopranos.

Got a Dr. Toothy trip today... wish me luck!
