- Pirates!
Shiver
Me Timbers! Atari and Firaxis Evolve a Classic in “Sid Meier’s Pirates!” on
GameZone is a Q&A with famed Firaxis designer Sid Meier: "Ship battles
are thrilling in this gorgeous 3D world. The main controls are the arrow
keys for direction and the space bar for firing. As the pirate captain
you'll engage the enemy ship in a battle and with your navigation and firing
skills revel in the excitement of watching your shots pepper their sails
with holes, blow a whole in the hull (you'll have the option to change views
and to choose different types of cannon shot - round for hull damage, chain
for sails, and grape for crew), and either sink the ship or crash into them
and storm the deck for a duel with the enemy captain. Once you've over
powered the captain and crew…throwing them overboard…the booty is yours for
the taking!"
- Vampire: The Masquerade- Bloodlines
Troika’s
Leonard Boyarsky talks about developing Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines
is an article-format Q&A about the upcoming Source-engine action RPG: "The
main story arc has a lot of stuff that you have to do, but the way you
approach it … For instance, the ghoul Mercurio that you first talk to, you
could basically piss him off but you still have to do the first step in the
main story arc, which is go get the astrolyte, but if you really piss him
off and tell him you are going to tell the prince that he is an ass, when
you go back he attacks you. If you are nice to him, he gives you great deals
on weapons later, he can procure weapons for you, he kind of approaches you
later in the game and thanks you because when you go back to the prince for
the first time he asks you if everything went Ok, and you can say yes or no.
And if you didn’t tick him off, you can still screw him over."
- Dungeon Siege II
The
Dungeon Siege II Q&A on GameSpot is a conversation with various folks
from Gas Powered Games about their upcoming action RPG sequel: "Right after
Dungeon Siege shipped, we immediately began work on the Yesterhaven
downloadable map. After that released, we worked with Mad Doc Software on
the Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna expansion pack, and began preproduction
on Dungeon Siege II. During that time, we gathered lots of ideas, both from
the team and the community, to put together the initial Dungeon Siege II
feature list. We winnowed down both that list and our ongoing internal wish
list to come up with what we felt would be the best ideas to support a rich,
exciting real-time RPG experience."
- Dark Age of Camelot: Catacombs
There is a Dark Age of
Camelot: Catacombs Q&A on
GamerGod and another briefer Q&A on
Worthplaying,
each talking with Mythic's Matt Firor about the MMO expansion. This is from
the former: "All of the above. We looked at each realm, tried to find a
class that fit the spirit of the Realm that wasn't yet represented, and then
designed the classes. Obviously we get tons of feedback and we can't make
everyone happy, but we are very excited about the classes that are being
added to the game in Catacombs: the Valkyrie, Warlock, Bainshee, Vampiir,
and Heretic."
- Bet on Soldier
The
Bet on Soldier Q&A on FileFront talks with Clement, lead designer on
Kylotonn about their upcoming gambling-themed first-person shooter: "In
order to generate more profit governments created a game concept called ‘Bet
On Soldier’. A game in which top warriors called ‘champions’ battle to death
in televised duels. The player is one of these champions in a series of
missions to win the BoS championship."
- Stronghold 2
The
Stronghold 2 Q&A on GameSpot chats up Simon
Bradbury, lead designer on the upcoming medieval conquest sequel: "We have
received a lot of really good feedback from the Stronghold community. We
have talked about some of the combat changes we are making based on user
feedback, such as formations and stronger walls, as well as evolutionary
gameplay advancements. On the economic side of the game, we have taken the
feedback and gone through all the original game systems to see how we can
improve them."
- Rick Dakan
The

Blue King Studio founder Rick Dakan about his departure from Cryptic
Studios, City of Heroes, and more.
- Stranger
RPG
Vault's Stranger Q&A, Part 1 talks with Fireglow Games about Stranger:
"Stranger is a real-time strategy game with a lot of tactical and
role-playing elements. The storyline takes place in a fantasy world filled
with magic. A typical gameplay situation provides control of several to a
few dozen characters; in other words, this is not a massive strategy game
with huge armies. Along with decreasing the scale, we've concentrated on a
high level of detail."

Well, I certainly would not have joked about those chads yesterday if I imagined
that we'd have a repeat of the last U.S. Presidential election, where the
uncertainly over the outcome lingers like a hangover the morning after. Sick of
the phrase "Provisional Ballots in Ohio" yet? I'm guessing soon enough we all
will be. I guess in this clearly overly litigious society, it's only appropriate
that our elections get decided in the courts. To my thinking, the oddest
Election Day story comes from New Mexico, where they got tired of counting
votes, and went home for the night. Thanks for playing guys. Oh yeah, and a note
to all politicians... no matter how exuberant the moment... you really should
avoid dancing when Kool & the Gang comes over the P.A. singing Celebrate
(seek video of our reelected N.Y. Senator Schumer for a good example).
