supposed to be). The site includes a batch of new low-resolution screenshots. Finally,

This
Press Release announces a publishing deal for Mythic Blades, offering first
details on this upcoming fighting game from
Vermillion Entertainment. Here's a
bit: "Mythic Blades is a visually breath-taking entertainment title which places
the player in the role of Legendary Hero or Terrifying Monster during combat to
determine the fate of the Olympus. Ares has challenged his father; if Ares wins,
he will take over Zeus' place and rule over the Olympus - but the battle does
not take place there. Instead it will be fought between Man and Monster."
- Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
An in-house Splinter Cell:
Chaos Theory Q&A has been distributed by Ubisoft, and has been posted, among
other places, on
Worthplaying: "Actually, we are using an updated version of the Splinter
Cell 1 engine, an Unreal based engine. Since the end of the first Splinter
Cell, we’ve been optimizing every aspect of the engine in order to get what
we believe to be the current best technology. A lot of elements have been
rebuilt from scratch such as the AI, thus providing a larger variety of
reactions and more development flexibility. All the 3D rendering has been
reworked, now managing normal mapping, per pixel lighting and specular
effects to such an extent that you won’t be able to find this amount of
detail in any of the released games today."
- Blitzkrieg II
The
Blitzkrieg II Q&A on FileFront
talks with George Ossipov, project leader on CDV's upcoming World War II
strategy sequel: "In Blitzkrieg II the player chooses what missions to
fight, builds his strategy on the chapter level, accumulates and uses
different types of reinforcements at his free will and liking. At the start
of the each chapter you’re given a number of reinforcement calls, which you
can use whenever it seems necessary. If you don’t run out of the calls by
the end of the chapter, you can use all the calls left in the Final Battle."
The Ubisoft FTP server (thanks Frans) now offers downloads of

A "tctest" version of the TCElite
Enemy Territory modification is now available (thanks Ant). The list of
download mirrors can be found right below the news post that confusingly states
that the release will take place within a few hours.
Some help for the time remaining in the Guild Wars test: A
Crafting Guide, an
Interace Guide and a
Merchant Guide.
Happy Halloween! This is our first weekend Halloween in the land of rugrats, so
we're not sure what to expect... usually on weekdays, they wait until after dark
before beginning their Cornholio runs, but it's possible that we'll get an
unusual number of visitations during the day today. Due to this, some kids may
get to experience my exasperated football fan costume if they arrive at the wrong
key moment...
We had a great visit with the breeder yesterday... he has great dogs, and we are
looking forward to our new puppy more than ever. Oh, by the way, we finally
found Hudson her superhero costume, so this year she really is finally actually
dressing up as Hudson the wonder dog for Halloween.
Finally, happy Standard Time to all who have had their clocks fall back today.
As always, I enjoy getting the extra hour, but hate the earlier sundowns in a
big way... I'm going to add permanent Daylight Savings Time as a second campaign
promise for my eventual run for the presidency (my first promise is mandatory
annual driver tests for those over 70).
