has word from Buka Entertainment that Ice Pick Lodge's horror/adventure game is
delayed (thanks Frans). The release date that used to say "IV quarter 2004" has
been updated to read "I quarter 2005."
Take 2 Games (thanks
Unofficial H&D2 Website) now offers
new patches for Hidden & Dangerous 2 and the new Sabre Squadron expansion for
Illusion Softworks' World War II tactical combat game. There's a 122 MB patch
for the original H&D 2, mirrored on
3D Gamers and
Worthplaying as
well as a smaller 22 MB patch for the add-on, mirrored on
3D Gamers and
Worthplaying.
The patches ensure that the game and the add-on are in sync, bringing them each
up to the same version.
The
Ground Control II: Operation Exodus News Page now offers details on the
upcoming patch for Massive Entertainment's RTS sequel (thanks Frans). The post
describes new features and bug fixes along with a lengthy list of balance
changes. Word is: "We are very close to finishing it up, and hope to release it
sometime next week."
More RTS patch plans, as the Big
Huge News Page has word that the majority of the testing is complete on the
upcoming patch for the Thrones & Patriots, and the update for this Rise of
Nations add-on is expected next week. They say at that point they will also be
revealing further future patch plans. Thanks Frans.
Leisure Suit
Larry Magna Cum Laude Uncut and Uncensored to be Released on IGN offers word
that an uncut and uncensored version of Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude is
in the works, for those who found fault with the gameplay-to-porn ratio in the
original version of this return of the polygonal perv.

The
RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Website now offers another new trailer for the
theme-park simulator, which is actually the 30 second TV spot for the game.

Square Enix hosts Final Fantasy party on GameSpot has word of plans for a
Square Enix Dance: The
FINAL FANTASY XI
Anniversary Masquerade, slated for Saturday, October 30, in San Francisco.
HellsForces.com has a preview of the upcoming first Battlefield Vietnam
version of the Eve of Destruction modification that originated for Battlefield

The
Battlefield Vietnam Website (thanks Frans) now offers downloads of a new
version 1.2 of the Battlecraft editor for DICE's military shooter, offering
support, among other things, for the game's new tunnel code. In addition, they
are putting out the call to mod teams interested in working with Battlefield 2,
so they can better gauge the needs of such groups as they go forward with
development on the next installment in the series.
Gearbox Software Announces
New COGS Initiative (thanks Frans) has details on a new "contractor
initiative" at Gearbox Software. Word is: "Candidates for the COGS program must
be high school graduates, legal US residents, and at least 18 years of age.
Gearbox will have a limited number of COGS contracts that will be available -
each contract will be filled by the best talent available. Contracts will be
awarded based upon various factors - previous mod/project work, portfolio/demo
reel/code sample quality, level of enthusiasm, etc. COGS will be required to
have frequent, hands-on interaction with the Gearbox Software developers. So
COGS must be located in the proximity of the Gearbox Software offices in Plano,
TX for the duration of their contract, and be available during typical business
hours."

This afternoon MrsBlue and I will make our way into Manhattan to collect on gift
certificates we received for massages. It's always nice to be pampered... the
rub here will be to see if we can manage to make our way home out of the city
