Gold - Ultima Online: Samurai Empire

UO: Samurai Empire Gold announces the completion of the Japanese-themed expansion for the MMORPG, saying the Ultima Online add-on is due in stores on November 2:

“We are right on track to deliver this exciting new experience to our fans next month,” said Anthony Castoro, producer of Ultima Online at EA. “We’re thrilled because we’re giving players everything they ask from a new expansion, new professions, lands, skills and housing options. Beyond that, we’ve also added a unique locale and culture to Ultima Online, the exotic Tokuno Islands, a land of Samurai and Ninja.”

Evening Q&As

  • Arkane RPG
The Arkane Studios Q&A on Leakfree.org discusses the developers still-untitled upcoming Source-engine RPG: "First, we really liked the Half Life game and the Valve development philosophy which is very game-play oriented so we assumed their next engine would be at least as good in that regard. Then, amongst all next generation engines, it seemed to us that Source was the most appropriate for our game : it is very generic and it is flexible in term of world handling, lighting system, physics engines, performance scaling. Many next gen engines are very restrictive and force the developers to work on very tiny environments, with very low amounts of lights…"
  • Nexus: The Jupter Incident
The Nexus: The Jupter Incident Q&A on Computer And Video Games (thanks Frans) discusses the space strategy game with Vincent Van Diemen of HD Interactive: "It was originally called Imperium Galactica III. The development was started by Philos, a Hungarian studio. Philos started development and signed it with CDV and at some point decided to... They thought it would be good to have a good IP for this space game, so sort of randomly they picked a license, being Imperium Galactica, and bought it from Infogrames. But that's been quite controversial, on the design side, because the actual design for this game did not really match the Imperium Galactica series."
  • Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault
The Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault Q&A on FileFront talks with Rick Giolito about the upcoming World War II sequel: "Pacific Assaults is the next generation of the MOH franchise, particularly on the PC. The style and pacing is driven by actual veteran accounts of Pacific Theater warfare and our desire to faithfully recreate it. This fighting was a stark contrast than that of the European Theater - in short it was much more up close, personal and driven by vengeance."
  • Empire Earth 2
FileFront's Empire Earth 2 Q&A chats up Ian Davis of Mad Doc Software about their upcoming space strategy sequel: "We’ve put a lot of thought into how a game of this scope can be best played, and the improvements and innovations we’ve made – the Diplomacy System, the Crown System, Territories, Citizen Manager, Picture-in-Picture, and especially the War Planner – have had a HUGE impact on gameplay."
  • Dark and Light
Dark and Light’s Stephane Quilichini Discusses Changes for MMO Title on GameZone gets a status report on the upcoming MMORPG: "We did a check on the DnL positioning in regard to our delay of one year on the development. DnL development did not stop, but we did need to validate our new planning before the announcement to our community. Our prime difficulty was adapting the Bigworld technology from Microforté to our Mafate engine. We are quite confident in our new launch date of April 2005."
  • The Matrix Online
The seventh question of the week has trickled out on The Matrix Online Vault, leaving us about a month shy of a completed (short) Q&A. Today's topic is Interlock combat rounds.
  • Bad Mojo
The Bad Mojo Q&A on Adventure Gamers talks with Alex Louie about the upcoming re-release of Bad Mojo, the much beloved cockroach game: "So, we do have a lot of different animals in the game. Even a cat and a banana slug. The other cockroaches are important in the game, as they give you clues to how to finish the game."

Ships Ahoy - Leisure Suite Larry: Magna Cum Laude

Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude Ships to Retail is the press release announcing the release of the bawdy collegiate adventure:

Developed by High Voltage Software, Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude is the coming of age story of Larry Lovage, nephew of Larry Laffer, the series’ original lovable loser. The game follows the racy and often randy high jinks of Laffer, a sixth-year-senior enrolled at the local community college, as he attempts to get the attention of a bevy of bodacious on-campus beauties. When a reality TV dating show comes to campus, Larry decides he's going to revitalize his life by winning the contest and proving once and for all that he can live up to the shining example set by his Old Uncle Larry. However, over the course of the game Larry finds, much like his uncle, that the best laid plans don’t always go as intended.

This way the game combines the look of a die-cast-racer with the feeling of a full-physics arcade rally game!"

Return to Mysterious Island Gold

Kheops Studios (thanks Frans) has word that Return To Mysterious Island, their adventure game based on the works of seminal science fiction novelist Jules Verne, has gone gold. Here's the deal on the game's finding Nemo plotline: "The Jules Verne-inspired title will see players assuming the role of a young woman named Mina, who becomes stranded alone on a desert island while on a round-the-world sailing expedition. Morning Q&As

  • Splinter Cell
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Details on IGN offers a Q&A with Mathieu Ferland of Ubisoft about the next installment in Sam Fisher's sneaky adventures: "In SCCT, because of the AI improvements, we're not forcing this scan in a zone anymore. NPCs are moving more, and an alarm will be triggered only if an NPC is "physically" seeing the body. Don't get me wrong, hiding bodies is still very important. It's just that we're trying to remove alarms that are misunderstood, and removing the body indication will enhance the tension since players still need to be very cautious."
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords
RPG Vault's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords Q&A uses Jedi mind tricks on Mike Gallo, Chris Parker, and Chris Avellone to learn more about Obsidian's upcoming RPG follow-up: "I think that a difficult aspect is just making sure that you don't over-design the game because of what's been done before, and making sure that the story still has great moments and great characters within the world, but still being different."
  • Hearts of Iron 2
The Hearts of Iron 2 Q&A on Strategy Informer talks with Fredrik Lindgren about Paradox Entertainment's upcoming World War II strategy sequel: "The combat system is completely re-worked and introduces 'movement-is-attack', meaning that an attack starts the moment you move into an adjacent province. In Hearts of Iron 2 you will also be able to give missions like support attack to your units as well as more than 20 other mission types."

Wait a minute. I feel great! I love being angry!" Oh well, I can just get it online (happy happy, joy joy).
