announcement: Montreal Studio Set to "Reveal" the Next Title in the Myst®
Franchise
SAN FRANCISCO - April 5, 2004 - Ubisoft, one of the world's largest videogame
publishers, today revealed the critically acclaimed and best-selling Myst®
franchise will launch its newest adventure, Myst® IV Revelation, this fall.
Peter Gabriel, world-renowned recording artist, worked in collaboration with
award-winning composer Jack Wall to create the game's immersive and ambient
soundtrack.
"We are excited to announce Myst IV Revelation and proud that it comes from our
own Ubisoft Montreal studios," said Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft Inc.
"Myst IV Revelation will only add to the strength of the Myst franchise, which
continues to lead the Adventure category in critical acclaim, fan following, and
sales."
Within the visually awe-inspiring world of Myst, a gripping family drama will
slowly unfold. A little girl disappears, her two brothers are suspected, and it
is clear that their story is far from over. Players will escape into the
adventure as they attempt to solve the mystery and discover the fate of the two
villainous brothers, Sirrus and Achenar. Understanding their motives is the key
to the investigation which will lead to a true "revelation."
"Myst IV Revelation will take players into the twisted minds and worlds of two
evil brothers, deep inside an intense family drama, and immerse them within a
visually stunning environment," said Genevieve Lord, producer at Ubisoft. "The
game is simply a 'must-have' for Myst fans and will also appeal to new players.
The storyline is very suspenseful, the puzzles are compelling, and the music,
produced by Jack Wall in partnership with Peter Gabriel, will create an

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl Q&A
on
Eurogamer.net (thanks Frans) talks with Oleg Yavorsky of GSC Game World
about their upcoming Geiger counter-tripping first-person shooter: "Stealth is
quite influential during the game as you will be affected by hunger, you
will have endurance. For instance if you lose your strength because you've
been carrying too much weight you get tired fast and will have to sleep from
time to time to restore your energy. You are also affected by radiation - if
you get too close to it you also die. So, yes, it's usually a survival game,
and threats will be at any corner, waiting for you."
- Alias
The
Alias
Q&A on BDGamer.N talks with Patrik McCormack, producer on the TV show
tie-in, including a frank discussion of the game's origins: "When we
discovered Alias, we were already in a very early prototype phase for a
stealth and combat game that utilised hand-to-hand combat, spy gadgets and
elements of stealth. We identified many parallels between our game concept
and the TV show, and then set about making sure we acquired the license to
give our concept instant recognition and direction."

It's 30-something degrees here, far from spring-like, but at least the daily
rain has abated, so hopefully the frolicking in the meadows can commence soon
enough... or at least the opening of the windows. Happy Passover to those
celebrating, the holiday begins at sundown today, so you have an extra hour to
get home after yesterday's clock hijinx.
