Nemesis of the Roman Empire Gold

Enlight send word that Nemesis of the Roman Empire is gold, and expected in North America on March 24:

Enlight, a leading entertainment software developer and publisher, announced today that the upcoming PC title Nemesis of the Roman Empire has gone gold. Based on the award-winning original Celtic Kings: Rage of War, Nemesis of the Roman Empire will allow players to experience the most brutal battles of the Punic Wars, including the infamous campaigns of Hannibal the Great.

Nemesis of the Roman Empire has already received high remarks for its unique approach to combining military tactics and real time strategy. The online gaming site AVault called the game "an innovative simulation… one of the first strategy games to truly embrace that concept on a level of realism higher than Age of Empires." In addition, the game has been praised for its portrayal of the historic Punic Wars. "Any game where I'm in control of thousands of men in a pitched battle for survival is ok in my book," said Juan Castro of IGN.com. "(The engine) really shines handling the immense amount of troop movement onscreen."

Featuring epic missions, Nemesis of the Roman Empire casts players as one of four races; the Romans, Carthaginians, Gauls or Iberians. Inspired by the historical Punic Wars (264-146 B.C.), Nemesis of the Roman Empire also features the famous campaigns of Hannibal and Scipio Africanus. In addition, the game will contain two distinctive single-player campaigns, new terrain types, custom maps and special enhancements to the Celtic King engine. While remaining true to the game's original concept, Nemesis of the Roman Empire incorporates real-time strategy and role-playing elements, offering players a unique experience in discovering a conflict that occurred over 2000 years ago.

"Haemimont created a game that incorporates elements of the original while at the same time, improved on the formula," said Trevor Chan, chief executive officer of Enlight Software LTD. "Gamers that enjoyed the original game will be thrilled. Players looking for something unique and different in the RTS genre will be ecstatic."

Nemesis of the Roman Empire is being published by Enlight Interactive in North America and will be available at $29.95 for the PC on March 24, 2004. For additional information on features for this title as well as future updates, please visit the game's official website www.enlight.com/nemesis.

Sacred Gold

A post by Ascaron to the Ascaron Community Forums (thanks Tiscali Games) refutes an erroneous release date by announcing that the English version of Sacred is gold, and with some exceptions the RPG should be shipping worldwide over the course of this month:

SACRED English has gone gold and as I type cd's are coming off the line, printers are running off the beautiful 68 page manual, and retailers are placing orders for a street date of March 19th UK and Nordic and Benelux and South Africa
Australasia and US~Canada remain March 23rd, although shipping distances in US~Canada and Aus may make this a week later.
Greece should also be March 19th
Russian (Akella) and Polish and Czech (Cenega) are scheduled mid April
Italian and Spanish versions are scheduled May from FX Interactive. Spanish for South America is also May.

Japanese is signed but has no forecast date as of today
France remains April in French
China is negotiating and should close for end March on sales 12 weeks later in Chinese
remaining gaps I want to find partners for are

Israel
Portugal
Turkey
Korea
Mid East
Parts of Asia

Out of the Blue

It looks like escaping season is on again here at the BlueTower, as letting Hudson the wonder dog out into the backyard today resulted in her mysterious reappearance at the front door. Actually not that mysterious... she must have hopped or climbed the fence, which means areas of our fencing that were previously suspected of being too short, are now confirmed as such. I'm going to take a look at how best to secure things for the time being, but I'm beginning to fear that this is a problem that's not going to be solved until a taller fence is built... or maybe a dome.

Hey! The odds on 'Sopranos' whackings (thanks Mike Martinez) offers the lines. For amusement only, please, no wagering. Spoiler warning (from last season).
