Archived News:
NVIDIA sends news that their hardware has been designated
the ideal platform for DOOM 3 (a distinction that will presumably continue even
after the game is released). Here's the announcement: NVIDIA is pleased to
announce that id Software recommends the GeForce FX family of graphics
processing units for DOOM 3. This week, many of our add-in card and system
builder partners have begun to display a special sticker on their retail
packaging and company Websites to promote this recommendation to consumers.
This marks a great achievement for GeForce FX GPUs. Look for this sticker on
video cards equipped with a GeForce FX GPU and witness the mind-blowing detail
of the DOOM 3 experience - the way it's meant to be played.
To have a look at the sticker, please visit our DOOM 3 page on NVIDIA nZone,

The Stalingrad press release on
GAMES.1C.RU announces plans for an Eastern-front World War II-themed
real-time strategy using a modified version of the Blitzkrieg engine (thanks
Frans). Here's a bit on the game, not to be confused with the first-person shooter of the same name in the
works at French developer 4X Studio that
hasn't been heard from in well over a year ( story): Stalingrad is a real-time strategy (developed by DTF Games) based on the
modified Blitzkrieg engine. The game tells a story of one of the most dramatic
periods of World War II and covers all major events from June 1942 till January
1943.
The game consists out of two campaigns. During the first one players will lead
the advancing German forces and after that will assume the role of a Soviet
commander, whose aim is to liberate the city and smash the 6th Army of
Wehrmacht.
Unlike many other WWII RTS games Stalingrad renders every event taking into
account all historical peculiarities and demonstrates a high level of accuracy.
Moreover the missions in every single battle scenario are the same as they were
in reality.

the contract amendment proposal offered by Atari. All effort to further develop

Sign-ups for
the CPM League are now underway, a Quake III Arena league using the
ProMode modification. The competition gets
underway on March 12.
Hatchee matchee! And it's March! As John Belushi once pointed out, March
sometimes comes in like a lion and goes out like another lion (one has a mane
and one doesn't have a mane), but here's hoping the whole lion/lamb transition
is in order (though I'll willingly accept a lamb/lamb scenario). A little poking
around reveals that there's more than just the coming spring to celebrate here,
as March is National Women's History Month,
National Youth
Art Month,
National Nutrition Month,
National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month,
National
Craft Month, and heavens to Jimmy Carter, it's also
National Peanut Month.
