There's a Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided Updated Preview
on GameSpot with their latest set of impressions of Sony Online
Entertainment's upcoming Star Wars MMORPG. Here's what they have to say about
how things are progressing: "Despite considerable delays, including the
newest delay announced just a few days ago, Star Wars Galaxies does seem to be
pulling itself together, which is no small feat for a game this huge and this
complex."
A forum post called SFC OP Patch Version 2538
Released by Taldren's David Ferrell announces the availability of a new patch to update Star Fleet Command: Orion
Pirates. The post lists 73 individual fixes and changes in this update to the
standalone Star Trek space strategy expansion.
BioWare has released the
first public beta of the Neverwinter Nights Linux Client. They have set up a
forum to discuss the client, an email
address to use for feedback, and promise frequent updates to the beta. Word
is this debut version (build: 1.29.6758 Beta 1) does not support chat or server
browsing, but these will be in the next release. Installing the client
will require game resources from an existing Windows installation and a CD-Key.
Strategy First sent along a press release belatedly announcing the release of
yesterday's updated New World Order Demo ( story) that also has an
updated release date for the North American version of Termite Games'
first-person shooter, saying it is now expected on March 25, a week later than
previously announced ( story).
This 3DO Support
Page has the instructions and patches required to update the North American
versions of Heroes of Might and Magic IV and it The Gathering Storm expansion
pack to version 3.0. Owners of the North American version of the Winds of War
expansion do not need a patch, as that shipped at version 3.0. The Gathering
Storm update from version 2.2 has been mirrored on Gamer's
Hell and both 2.2-3.0 updates are mirrored on Worthplaying. Users of other language versions of the game (including UK English)
are warned not to use these patches.
Larian Studios and epic interactive entertainment
announce: "they have signed a contract to bring Larian Studios’ highly
awarded role playing sensation Divine Divinity to the Apple Macintosh and
MorphOS." Word is the Macintosh version (OS X only) will be released in the
third quarter of this year, with the MorphOS release to follow "shortly
thereafter."

stream of looks at Digitalo's now-gold first-person shooter, inspiring
the author to gush: "Devastation has to be one of the best games I have
seen in the last 3 months."

that's just gone gold in Germany, saying: "The action that takes place
is as realistic as it gets. The in-game engine reminds me of the Command

Website, where they show off the promised clip of an AGM-65B Maverick doing
its thing, albeit from an early beta version with some known bugs. The movie has
been mirrored by 3D Gamers

The WWII Online
Website has word of the release of a new version 1.80 patch for the MMO WW2
game. "Version 1.80 also marks the introduction of the '1941' vehicle set,
including the Panzer IIIH, Spitfire Vb, Bf-109F4 and other vehicles and
aircraft." The patch is available on their downloads
page as an update for version 1.77 or as a full installer, and the new
version can also be applied via the in-game update feature, or ordered on a CD for
those with limited bandwidth.
PC.IGN.Com's Horizons
Preview offers their thoughts on Artifact Entertainment's upcoming MMORPG
after getting to check it out at the Game Developer's Conference. They describe
gameplay, the emphasis on tactics during combat, the importance of tradespeople,
and other factors that try to set the game apart from the crowd. Included are
screenshots and quotes from Artifact's Steve Bowman and Steve Escalante, though
these are maddeningly all attributed to "Steve" or "one of the
Steve's."
There's a Player2Developer Chat
Session scheduled for later today where the folks behind the just-released Episode 2: Attack
of the Conflux ( story) Jumpgate expansion.
The chat kicks off tonight at 8:00 PM EST.
The intro movie for Final Fantasy X-2 is now available as a 51 MB download from Computer Games Online and Gamer's Hell. Also, Team
Zono on Aliens vs. Predator: Extinction on GameSpy.com is a Q&A on the upcoming AvP console game. There is also a
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell preview on GameSpy.com with a look at the GBA
version of the stealthy action game. Finally, GameSpy.com's
Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse Preview looks at 3DO's upcoming
three-console action game, though no mention is made of the planned PC version.
A new version 1.5 of the Team
Elite modification for Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force is now available.
Described as a Star Trek-based TeamFortress type game, this mod adds classes and
weapons with the goal of promoting balanced teamplay-based competition.
The mod also offers features like a third-person crosshair, new taunts, chat
enhancements, and more.
