Dear Diaries

GameSpy's Horizons Developer Diary Volume 3 offers an extensive discussion of how the resource management system will operate in Artifact's upcoming MMORPG written by designer Shawn F. Carnes. He stresses the importance of this aspect of the design, since so many of the game's other systems (trade, skills) will rely on it. Also the latest Dragon Empires Diary is up on the official website for Codemasters' upcoming MMORPG. This installment offers a Q&A with artists Louis Browne and Phil Irving, who reflect on some recently released weapon concept art.

Out of the Blue

My computer is still winning our battle of wills, but I keep pointing out to it that this is a marathon and not a sprint, so no victor can yet be declared (but this machine tasks me.... oh how it tasks me!). After being startlingly on the money in predicting our last couple of severe winter storms, the local weatherman is now oh-for-two on his last couple of forecasts, as the snow we were told to expect late last week never materialized, and the heavier storm predicted for this weekend has turned into rain rather than snow. This is more than welcome, since we still have an insane amount of snow on the ground, I just have to hope not too much of it ends up in my basement.
