A post to the Infogrames Forums
has word that "If you are a ISP or Server admin you'll be interested to see
we released the 2199 patch for both Linux and Windows" Unreal Tournament
2003. The files are available on the Unreal Tournament 2003
Website along with word on what's up: "These files allow anyone to run
a dedicated UT2003 server, even if they do not own a retail copy of UT2003. Once
installed, it will occupy around 780MB of disk space, significantly smaller than
the 2.4GB required for a retail installation. Server admins wanting to advertise
their server to the official master server list, and be included in UT2003 stats
will require a dedicated server key. Go
to this site to generate a dedicated server key." These files have been
mirrored on 3D Gamers.
The "movies" link on the Enter The Matrix
website now offers a bunch of movies about the upcoming game, including a
new gameplay trailer along with some video interviews with the principles from
the production of the Matrix movies and game. Higher resolution versions of
movies are available on
the Infogrames FTP site (direct link) and a mirror of the new 75 MB trailer
is available on Gamer's
Hell. Also, another in the ongoing series of Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield
trailers has been released, and has been mirrored on Gamershell
and Worthplaying.
Also, yet another Will
Rock Movie (direct FTP link) has been released showing off another minute of
gameplay from Saber Interactive's upcoming first-person shooter.
Devlin leads 'Mech' into movie battle
on the Hollywood Reporter (thanks Shacknews)
says: "Dean Devlin will produce a movie based on the best-selling 'Mech
Warrior' video games." The article quotes Devlin, producer of Eight
Legged Freaks, as saying he'd like to get the movie into theaters within 24
months. Word is: "Jordan Weisman, who created 'Mech Warrior' 20 years ago,
will play a creative role in making the film," and the article quotes
Weisman as saying "The film is in many ways a coming-of-age story. It's set
40 years after the Mech Wars have ended and introduces a group of young heroes
in their late teens and early 20s that have grown up in peaceful and prosperous
times."
New World Order Shoots For Gold
is the press release announcing that the North American version of Termite Games' upcoming first-person
shooter is gold and off for duplication, though no expected in-store date is
specified. Here's a bit on the game from the press release: "New World
Order serves up over 15 real life weapons including the M-16, Desert Eagle and
AK-5 in 5 different game modes: team deathmatch, hostage rescue, plant the bomb,
team escape and fallout. Players can also take on the AI-opposition together in
cooperative gameplay. The Next-generation DVA™ engine features spectacular and
accurate effects that immerse you into the world of international terrorism on
three different levels of difficulty: easy, normal and hard in singleplayer mode
or you can take on fellow gamers in multiplayer mode on a LAN or the internet."
Funcom Announces Strong Production Line-Up
is the press release announcing what the future holds for the Norwegian game
developer, saying: "Work has started on a new booster pack for Anarchy
Online, the long-awaited sequel to the award-winning The Longest Journey, and a
brand new Persistent Online World game." Exact details on when each of
these products will be making its respective appearance are not being disclosed
at this time, but word is the concept for the Longest Journey sequel was
approved this week and that development includes members of the original team,
the second AO booster pack will focus on things like player-made towns and
gardens, and that the persistent world project has been in the works for the
past nine months.
Aspyr to Bring SimCity 4 to the Macintosh
is the press release announcing plans for the Mac version of the city-building
sequel. The release describes the game as long-awaited, but doesn't specify how
much longer Mac owners will have to wait to get their hands on the port, which
is being handled by i5works.
There is a new Lock On Modern Air Combat
trailer showing off some jet plane maneuvering, culminating in a friendly-fire
incident. Also, this Ubi
Soft FTP Directory offers downloads of a new Will Rock trailer showing off
about a minute of gameplay from Saber Interactive's upcoming first-person
shooter in both QuickTime and Windows Media Player formats. The server is not
terribly responsive at the moment, but the high- and medium-resolution
QuickTime versions have been mirrored by 3D Gamers.
There's an
X2: Wolverine's Revenge Preview on GameSpy.com with a look at the upcoming
game of comic book-inspired mutant madness that is planned for all current
console systems (as well as the PC, though this preview does not acknowledge
that). They describe the how the origin of the game's protagonist is depicted,
the Wolverine's special abilities, skill advancement, levels, character designs,
celebrity voices, and more. Included are some new screenshots.

NCsoft
Acquires Phantagram reports The Adrenaline Vault with word that: "Global
online game publisher NCsoft has acquired a controlling interest in Korean
developer Phantagram Ltd." Word is "the only title purchased as part
of the acquisition was Shining Lore. Phantagram continues to work on Kingdom
Under Fire: Crusaders and Strident. All other Phantagram titles are currently
undergoing an evaluation process. This includes Duality - a 3D action
role-playing game in production at Spanish developer Trilobite
Graphics."

has been posted, these will be the locations where qualifiers for their upcoming
$200K summer world championships will occur starting March 22. Also, sign-ups
are now taking place for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield Tournament.
