Page offers downloads of a new beta 1.01 patch for Starfleet Command III
(thanks Trek Universe Network),
and the UK bersion of the beta patch can be found on
this page. While the patch "addresses many outstanding issues,
including several bug fixes and balancing changes to single player and
multiplayer skirmish mode, single player conquest mode, single player campaign
mode and Dynaverse 3 multiplayer mode," it is also pointed out that this is
a beta patch, and is not supported by Activision Customer Support. In addition,
there is a lengthy list of reasons that this patch should not be installed. A

This Freelancer
Downloads Page offers downloads of a demo version of Freelancer, with this
sample of Digital Anvil's upcoming space game freely accessible, as opposed to
the subscription-only version released before the weekend ( story).
The approximately 150 MB demo "offers the chance to explore the entire
Liberty System, giving access to more than a dozen bases and five flyable ships.
Experience the trading system, sample the open-ended nature of the game and
immerse yourself in the intense combat of Freelancer today." Mirrors of

EverQuest: The Legacy of
Ykesha Available Now Via Digital Download (thanks HomeLan Fed)
is the press release with word that this EQ add-on is now available fro
download. Word is: "Breaking new ground by offering numerous technical
advances and improvements to gameplay via digital download, The Legacy of Ykesha
expands the world of Norrath for current EverQuest players by adding new
adventure zones, quests, spells, items, a new playable character race and more.
The new digital extension can be downloaded in-game for $21.99. Additionally,
select retailers will receive a limited number of retail CDs for the benefit of
narrowband customers in the coming weeks. Retail pricing will vary."

A new version of Mr. Pants' Excessive Overkill
is now available, offering the first Unreal Tournament 2003 version of this
modification that creates over-the-top gameplay worthy of its hyperbolic name.
There is a dedicated server available, and while clients do not need to install
anything to play, installing the client is still recommended for the full
experience.
The Syberia Website now offers a new patch # 3 for the Canadian/European release of Microïds'
adventure game. The English description is actually from the previous patch, but
along with a mirror, 3D Gamers
offers a translation of the accurate French description, which is "This
release fixes a problem with overlapping character voices, and a problem with
character movement speeds on portable computers."
There's a Far
Cry Preview on Computer and Video Games describing their impressions of
Crytek's upcoming first-person shooter after a trip to Bavaria to check out the
brats, beer, and the game. They discuss the devious AI of the enemies, the lack

Well the tons of snow in these parts are melting away... in a classic episode
that warns to be careful of what you wish for, a good deal of it is now in our
basement. Seems we have a bit more porosity in the walls down there than we
should, but we also think this is partly due to water from the roof, as it would
also seem that there are a couple of areas of the house that need more in the
way of rain gutters. Luckily there is enough time between now and when the
weather warms a bit that I can talk myself out of trying to tackle this project
myself.
