their cyberpunk MMORPG, has shipped to stores in the U.S., and should be
available today or tomorrow. He also says that in celebration, their fourth
server, "Pluto," is now online as a one character, "law
enforced" server.

Interactive Ships Hegemonia: Legions of Iron for the PC is the press release
with news that Digital Reality's outer space RTS game has shipped to stores in
North America. Here is a bit of their description of the science fiction
gameplay offered: "The game has a unique strategic element to it, as
players command a fleet of ships through battles in 35-40 different solar
systems. Gamers can also widen the battlefield with support for up to 16 players
on a LAN or Internet connection. Game modes include ‘Deathmatch,’
‘Skirmish,’ and ‘Co-Operative mode.’"

now offers a new patch from Electronic Arts for the recently released
multiplayer demo of Medal for Honor Allied Assault Spearhead, updating the WW2
FPS to version 2.11. The patch addresses a problem when "getting on a
Mortar and then disconnecting from the server," an issue also addressed in
the updated version of the Win32 dedicated Spearhead server they have posted.

with word that the Dark Age of Camelot add-on is complete, and is expected in
North American stores on December 3. Amid the bragging about the MMORPG's
success, the release offers this about the expansion: "Dark Age of Camelot:
Shrouded Isles extends the story of the original game with new character
classes, new races, and three new continents. The game was developed by
Mythic Entertainment and co-published with Abandon Entertainment."

with a look at Quicksilver's upcoming installment in this 4X space strategy
series based on visiting the developer to check it out first-hand. They discuss
how the game supports styles of play ranging from "even-handed"
through the author's preferred evil empire style, customization, species,

immersive story, diplomacy, and more.

EA Ships the Highly Anticipated Medal of Honor Allied Assault Spearhead for the PC
has word that the Spearhead expansion for the World War II shooter, Medal of
Honor: Allied Assault, has shipped to stores in North America. Here's a bit on
the add-on from the release: "The Medal of Honor Allied Assault Spearhead
expansion pack(1) has owners of Medal of Honor Allied Assault assuming the role
of Sergeant Jack Barnes while continuing their fight from behind enemy lines in
Normandy on D-Day to the Battle of the Bulge to the Fall of Berlin and the
defeat of the thousand year Reich." Also, Sail Through Etherium Commanding a Fleet of Solar-Sail Space Galleons in Epic Battles With Disney's Treasure Planet Battle at Procyon for PC
has word on the availability of Barking Dog's RTS game that ties in with the upcoming
animated Disney movie of the same name. Treasure Planet is a science
fiction-themed update of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic Treasure Island.
RPG Vault's Horizons Journal #6
features Artifact Entertainment's David Bowman discussing artifacts, of all
things, in Horizons, their upcoming MMORPG. He describes the benefits of this
"class of player-built structures," the enormous resource draw they
represent, the influence of artifacts on communities, balance issues, and more.
There's a Highland
Warriors Preview on Gamers Pulse based on getting to check out the press
preview of Data Becker's upcoming real-time strategy game of combat in
historical Scotland. They describe the game's setting, resource management,
units, raising an army, combat, graphics, and more.
A new version 2.5c of the QStat game server
status utility is now available. The new version adds support for Ghost Recon,
UT2003 (native protocol), various broadcast query fixes, and "various other
stuff." Full details on what's new and different can be found in the
release notes.
The debut release of the Third
Reich modification for Unreal Tournament is now available. As can be
inferred from the name, this is a World War II-themed modification, a complete
feature list can be found
here, and there are versions available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. They are
eager for feedback on this version, as they are gearing up to create an updated
version of the mod for UT 2003.
Vin Diesel to
Start Videogame Company on GameSpy.com has word that Vin Diesel is
entertaining the idea of starting his own video game company. There's not a lot
of precedent to predict how this will fare, though if the reverse of this
situation (game authors making movies) is any indication, I have a dire warning
to share with Vin... just remember the Wing Commander movie...
