This
Codemasters downloads page has a new RedHammer 1.85 compatibility patch
"to fix problems when playing the Red Hammer campaign (specifically mission
06) for users who have installed the Resistance add-on (and 1.85 patch)."
The 61 KB patch is for users of either the Gold Edition, or the Gold upgrade.
The Official Söldner - Secret Wars Gamesite
has opened for virtual business, dedicated to Wings Simulations' upcoming
"military tactical online shooter." The site offers a game overview, a
features list, some screenshots, and updates are promised "on a monthly,
sometimes weekly basis."
PlanetSoldierOfFortune now
offers downloads of an updated SDK for Raven Software's Soldier of Fortune II:
Double Helix. The SDK now contains AnimatEd and SklView, and is available on a
non-registration portion of FilePlanet.
EA sends word that Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 has gone gold. Here's the news:
"Attention racing fans! Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 PCCD has
officially GONE GOLD and will be in stores on Monday, October 21.

The Neverwinter Nights Patches
Page now offers a new version 1.26 patch for BioWare's RPG (thanks Major Havoc),
also available via the (recommended) in-game update tool. The new version fixes
the AC application bug, a crash using Direct Connect on LAN server page, a
GameSpy chat crash, and more. A complete list of changes and fixes can be found here,
and it is noted that modules created or saved using the latest version 1.26
toolset require NWN 1.25 or later to operate, so a patch to revert to version
1.25 or 1.24 is also available.
Iron Storm goes gold
on GameSpot is the report that 4X Studios' alternate history World War I
game is being duplicated for retail distribution. According to the story, the
game is due in North American stores on October 21.
In addition to yesterday's version 1.85 patch, the Operation Flashpoint
Downloads page also now features downloads of the version 1.85 Operation
Flashpoint Resistance dedicated server. Additionally, their Editing
Section now offers a list of Resistance scripting commands updated through
the latest version.
You could make stuff like this up, but it wouldn't be nearly as fun. There are
no fewer than three new development diaries online detailing development of
Horizons, Artifact Entertainment's upcoming MMORPG. The diary on The Adrenaline Vault News
offers thoughts from Jane Bradley, art director, and the rest of the Horizons

on Gamer's Hell showing off the upcoming PC version of Konami's horror game.

In an unusual move, the Cyberathlete Professional League Registration
Page began accepting sign-ups for their Unreal Tournament 2003 Winter
Championship before the announced time, "but an unexpected(ly) large number
of people quickly registered," and so they have closed registration again
until the planned time of 10:00 AM today. The
preliminary rules for the tournament have also been released.
The debut release of the Ruin Hunters
modification for Quake III Arena is now available. Described as "a fast
paced, cartoonish game that puts a twist on standard deathmatch by have no
damage, instead you have to knock opponents into kill zones with bombs and other
weapons," the mod is now available for download, and instructions have been
posted with a quick workaround for binding an alternate fire mouse button.
The relative quietness of yesterday turned out to be quite welcome, as it
allowed me to wallow a bit in not feeling well. Headache? New noisy dog toy?
