Vince Desi of Running with Scissors sends along a brief note explaining that POSTAL
2 has hit a delay, and rather than making it out before the end of this
year, their upcoming Unreal engine game is now due in the first quarter of 2003.
No word on the cause, be it rain, snow, dark of night, too much partying with
Gary Coleman, or what, but he does add: "We're totally committed to making
POSTAL 2 a great game, PERIOD!!!"
A new trailer for O.R.B. has been released, and is available for download from
the O.R.B. Off-World Resource Base Website.
The trailer is a 41.5 MB download in self-running Bink format, and the release
is accompanied by a
batch of new screenshots. Meanwhile, German site Wassernacht
has posted some videos of AquaNox 2: Revelation, showing off Massive
Development's upcoming underwater combat sequel (thanks Horace). Finally, Gigex
now offers a two minute Conflict: Desert Storm movie showing off Pivotal Games'
upcoming Gulf War tactical action game in their proprietary format for the cost
of a 10 MB download.
German site PC Games Online
has posted another UT2003 movie, showing off seven minutes of in-game footage
from the upcoming sequel to UT in the works at Digital Extremes. The MPEG-format
movie is available in higher (54 MB) and lower (20 MB) quality versions, and is
accompanied by a batch of 30 new screenshots.
A story on The Adrenaline Vault
reports that in addition to releasing the Play the World expansion for
Civilization III at the end of October, Infogrames is also planning on releasing
a Civilization III Game of the Year Edition, which will offer the latest version
of the game, new maps, a "making of" video and an excerpt from the official
strategy guide.
This
press release on GameSpyDaily has word on Mi'Jarin Chronicles: The Path to
War, an upcoming spellchecker-busting "story-driven, first person shooter
delivering fast-paced action, intriguing characters, a touch of humour, and a
complex story which will bring the definitions of right and wrong into question."
The game is in the works at Aussie developer Mystical
Development, and will make use of CroTeam's Serious engine.
The Elder Scrolls III Tribunal Announced
is the press release officially announcing plans for the Tribunal add-on for
Elder Scrolls III Morrowind, something that had already been more-or-less
revealed ( story). This is a bit from their description of
Tribunal, which is expected for release in November of this year: "In
Tribunal, a ruthless new king has taken the throne of Morrowind, while an aging
god drifts deeper into madness. Into this chaos you are thrust, with deadly
assassins close behind you and Morrowind's uncertain future ahead. Your journey
will lead you to Mournhold, capital city of Morrowind, to the Clockwork City of
Sotha Sil, and through massive, epic-sized dungeons." In further related
news, The Elder Scrolls Website has
been updated with a Tribunal wallpaper and a FAQ about the add-on, and GameSpyDaily's
Morrowind Tribunal Q&A catches up with Bethesda's Todd Howard about the
expansion, discussing the success of Morrowind, how the add-on integrates with
the original game, the story, new creatures, the new cities, the lack of new
skills or abilities, the unchanged system specs, and more.
As promised ( story), the playable demo for BANDITS: Phoenix
Rising is now available for download via FilePlanet
(registration required). According to GRIN CEO Bo Andersson, the sample version of their now-gold
game of Mad Max-style vehicular combat features one single player
mission, two multiplayer maps, three vehicles, 13 weapons, and four music tracks.
He suggests: "After playing make sure to drop by BANDITS
forums and have your say. When there, make sure to team up with others and
have a go at the online deathmatch mayhem!" The demo has been mirrored on FileShack
(registration required) and 3D Gamers.
There are some Black & White 2 Early Impressions
on PC.IGN.Com based on their opportunity "to sit down with the veteran
designer and his smart, quiet Lionhead development team" (in other words,
Peter Molyneux did the lion's share of the talking). Anyway, Peter and the Lions filled
them in on further details about the upcoming god game sequel, including how
evil creatures will appear more evil, the addition of deeper strategy elements,
the huge groups of villagers that can be called upon to do your godly bidding,
new combat modes, plans for deeper multiplayer play, water and weather, and more.
