There are some more
Warcraft III movies on WarcraftIII.Net continuing their recent spate of
footage they shot at Blizzard's London press event. Two of these are gameplay
movies in MPEG format, one showing off camera angles and the other character
dialogue, while the third flick in an AVI that features Blizzard's Bill Roper
talking about how cinematics will work in the game.
RiderzNews.com

this upcoming era-spanning RTS game. Topics covered include details about how
single-player and multiplayer play will unfold, where they are in development,

There are 14
new Battlecruiser Millennium screenshots on GameSpyDaily showing off action
from the upcoming third title in the Battlecruiser series of space simulations.
While the game hasn't even gone gold yet (at least in the US), an English-language version 1.01 patch for Hostile Waters is already available in the Support section of the Rage website (which is Flash only, so a more accurate link is not possible). Thanks Adrenaline Vault, where they have a direct link to the 3.9 MB patch, as well as details on the changes it brings to this 3D action/strategy game.
JeuxScoop
interviews the Venom Team (thanks SpecForce),
the French site talking in English with the Ukrainian developers of this upcoming
tactical first-person shooter that will use the Vital Engine ZL to create a futuristic environment. The
conversation talks with lead programmer Sergey Zabaryansky, 3D artist Andrew
Prokhorov, and programmer Roman Lut, and covers their backgrounds, the
inspirations for Venom, multiplayer play, modifications, and more. The article
is accompanied by several screenshots and images of the game's 3D models.
In spite of the fact that the article is dated over two weeks ago, the feature
called Resurrection
on Computer Gaming World is actually new, talking with Derek Smart, developer of what has
become a series of Battlecruiser games. The conversation covers Battlecruiser's
storied history with original publisher Take Two, the present and future of the franchise, as well
as a bit on Derek's outspoken nature, as he admits that "Sometimes when I get
online, and it's quiet, and I see something that attracts my attention, I'll
post just to piss these guys off. That's why I do it."
A few more previews from the Game Developer's Conference are up on Gamespot, as
they've posted an Empire Earth Update,
a Throne of Darkness Update,
and an Arcanum Update,
describing what they saw and heard about each of these upcoming titles that will
be published by Sierra Studios. Update: GameSpy.com has a similar look at the three games, as well as a brief look at One Must Fall: Battlegrounds and some pictures from the event.
Ian Currie on Wizardry 8 Delays
on GA-Source offers commentary from designer Ian Currie on "continued
discussion over Sir-tech's ongoing publishing delays for its 3D RPG, Wizardry 8."
The update describes the impact of developing the game prior to securing a

The official Counter-Strike website
has an updated version 1.1 patch installer for the mod version of Counter-Strike
for Half-Life (as opposed to the retail version) that will properly install the
correct version of the de_vegas map. Those who have already applied the version
1.1 update need not use the new installer, their situation can be remedied by
applying a separate fix, while the new installer is for those who have yet to
update version 1.0.
TechTV Deus Ex Level Editor
article offers tips on creating maps and missions for Deus Ex straight from
ION Storm's Harvey "Witchboy" Smith. Also, the Croteam's
website has word that while the Serious Sam SDK was not included on the game
CDs, it will probably be released on their site within the next few days.
A little schedule change sees me doing this update in place of loony, who had an
evening at the opera, which I can pretty well assure you will never be a reason
that I miss an update myself, it's just not my bag. As a result, he is not here
to provide his annual Academy Award predictions, so I feel sort of obliged to
provide my own in their place, so let me just check with a list of nominees.
Hmm, now this could be a problem... it would seem that my tendency towards
watching movies at home rather than the theaters has resulted in me seeing but
all of one nominated picture, Gladiator. So, I'll either have to cast my
votes for that one in every category (including those in which it isn't
nominated), or just vote blind, which, given the results of the actual awards on
occasion, may actually qualify me for inclusion in the academy. I guess I should
just give up now, especially since I don't even usually watch more than a little
of the broadcast, and that's not even during years, like this one, when the show
is opposite a first-run episode of The Sopranos.
As noted in Michael
