There's a
new Project IGI Preview on Player Of Games that looks ahead at the shooter
also known as "I'm Going In" from Norwegian developer Innerloop
Studios, which they describe as allowing you to play "in a style
reminiscent of a James Bond movie." To help them in their quest to inform
us about this upcoming game, they enlisted the help of Andrew Wensley, the game's
project leader to answer some questions.
Saying it's like a level pack on its side, Avatar sends word he's released a
version of TargetQuake for
Quake III Arena. The side part comes from the fact that in addition to the three
maps in TargetQuake, there is also a mod that turns the game over to offer Quake
action side-scroller style.
Version 201 of Q3Radiant is up, hot on
the heels of the release of version 200, the new release fixing a texture menu
bug with an assist from MrElusive. Also, a new version 1.2.3 of the Java MD3 Model Viewer
is now available, offering a caffeinated way to view the models from Quake III
Arena. Finally, the folks at the Quake Info Pool send along an update so full of
info, I'll just pass the whole thing along: There you can find all about
Classic Quake including a huge list of known bugs in Quake and QuakeWorld. The
recent update informs about why there was such a huge time span between updates,
that a SVC/CLC network versioning was developed to extended parts of the network
protocol without (losing) backwards compatibility and that the maintainer joined
the QuakeForge team at http://www.quakeforge.net/
to include his fixes to this Quake port. An 'inofficially' GPLed version of the
QuakeC sourcecode v1.06 is available for download. Last but not least you can
find information about the new WorldCraft 3 and Nvidia detonators in relation to
Classic Quake. Unfortunately the Quake 3 section got closed because of time
constraints.

of some crashes: "I'm going to put out a test .exe which back-dates
out the latest code from WON to see if their stuff is what is causing all of the
crashes (which based on the crash addresses, I believe it is). I'll also release
a new eaxsnd.dll and eaxman.dll which have bugs fixed by creative as well."

questions, as well as some general questions about the industry, one of them
inspiring the Miller to share the following about id's newly announced Doom
plans: "My take is that Id will make a lot of money remaking DOOM for the
fifth time in a row (cannot count Q3A). ;-)"

Howdy there, this is usually loony's shift, but he's off this evening seeing
Chicken Run, apparently something akin to a religious event for the lad, and
since I'm mostly feeling over my cold/flu dealie, I'm filling in. BTW, in case
you're curious, the question as to why Frans never does these morning
"rollover" updates came up recently on the messageboards again, so if
you ever wondered about it, Frans' reply is here. Meanwhile, a couple of required tweaks are finally in place here, the
popular (relatively speaking) threads listing atop the page now properly only
displays messageboard threads begun within the last week, and the .plan Summaries
listing finally properly displays .plans within the last 24 hours.
