American McGee Presents Scrapland Fuses Open-Ended Gameplay with Dazzling,
Futuristic Gunship Combat
PARKVILE, MD (November 4, 2004) – Get set to blast off into a frenzied, far out
future where humans are feared and robots rule. Enlight, a leading entertainment
software publisher, along with Executive Producer American McGee and developer
Mercury Steam, announced today that the PC version of Scrapland has shipped to
stores nationwide. An engagingly humorous 3rd person action-adventure game,
Scrapland has drawn comparisons to such hits as Grand Theft Auto and Descent for
its open-ended gameplay and extreme, futuristic 3D flying missions. The PC
version carries a SRP of $39.99 and has been rated “T” for TEEN.
“If you’re into metal and motion, sink your circuits into Scrapland,” said
Executive Producer American McGee. “You’ve never seen a robot with this much
freedom to mix things up, and the combat is totally riveting.”
American McGee Presents Scrapland features a spectacularly detailed world where
players can pursue an engrossing storyline or go off on adventures of their own.
As the robot D-Tritus, players must solve a series of murders by navigating the
dangerous robot-inhabited city of Chimera on the planet known as Scrapland. D-Tritus
can fight on the ground or he can transform into any of 15 character types, each
with their own unique abilities. He can also steal, build, customize and fly a
huge variety of ships and engage in explosive 3D combat against other pilots.
Multiplayer options include Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and the ability to
import ships from the single-player game.
“I’m really excited to have had the opportunity to work with Mercury Steam on
this project,” said American McGee, Executive Producer of Scrapland. “This team
is truly talented, and the reaction from the gaming community has been
incredibly enthusiastic.”
Scrapland is the first of a new series of titles from Enlight branded “American
McGee Presents.” The “American McGee Presents” brand was created earlier this
year when McGee took on the role of Creative Director at Enlight. Scrapland will
also be available in late January for the Xbox® video game system from
Microsoft. For additional information please visit
