Gonzo Suarez, creator and director of the ‘Commandos’
leaves Pyro Studios
Starts new project with his Lead Developer, Jon Beltran de
Gonzo Suarez, creator and director of the titles launched to date by
the Spanish developer Pyro Studios and published by Eidos, among which are
'Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines' (1998), 'Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty'
(1999), and 'Commandos 2: Men of Courage' (2001 PC; 2002 PlayStation 2 and
Xbox), has left Pyro Studios with his Lead Developer, Jon Beltran de Heredia,
and the core of his team, up to a total of eleven people, to start a new
development company, Arvirago Entertainment.
The move has taken place after the release of Commandos 2 for PlayStation 2
and Xbox. These two versions have been released in September 2002 and are
performing well, with over 500,000 copies sold during the first week.
During the last six years, Gonzo Suarez has created and directed the titles
of the ‘Commandos’ series, which have been number one on international sales
charts and have sold over 3 million copies world-wide.
Gonzo Suarez, who has been creating games since 1984, is a partner of Pyro
Studios, company founded in 1996 as a global market AAA games developer, thanks
to the financial initiative of Ignacio Perez, current Director of the company.
With Arvirago Entertainment, Gonzo Suarez and Jon Beltran de Heredia
start a new track, with the goal of sustaining the line of videogames creation
with international success.
