gamigo Announces Three New Games

The apocalypse was just the beginning – gamigo announces Grimlands

Hamburg, March 10, 2010 – Just in time for today's European press event "next-g" gamigo announced the post-apocalyptic MMORPG shooter Grimlands. In the dark and hostile world of Grimlands, players have one goal: survival. Those brave enough to accept this challenge will find themselves facing psychopaths, terrifying mutants and roving bands of outlaws.

In order to get along in such a hostile world, the player will have to rely on their alter ego's skills. These are not determined by the character's class or improved by adding skill points: In Grimlands the motto is "Learning by doing". Skills are improved by being used – practice makes perfect, after all. "Use it or lose it" holds true here as well, with skills that are not used regularly being forgotten after a while. Thus each player develops their character through their own personal playing style.

These skills are developed in a dynamic world where the players' actions will leave their mark. A comprehensive and flexible crafting system means that there are almost no limits when it comes to building one's own equipment. Another highlight of this feature are the various vehicles that can be custom-modified and can even be driven by a group people as well as the cities that can be founded and expanded.

Patrick Streppel, Executive Board Member at gamigo, said this: "Grimlands combines the action of a shooter game with role-playing game elements and the open world of an MMORPG for the first time. The graphics and the approach to free skill development are truly remarkable. Just as players leave their mark on the post-apocalyptic world, Grimlands will leave its mark on the world of MMOGs. "

Closed beta testing of Grimlands is planned to begin in the fourth quarter of 2011. More information can be found soon on the game's official website.

A selection of images and a teaser trailer are now available for download. The trailer can also be viewed on YouTube.

gamigo announces "UFO Online – Fight for Earth"

Hamburg, March 10, 2010 – During the course of the European press event "next-g" gamigo announced "UFO Online – Fight for Earth", its new tactical 3D browser-based game. Players take charge of a group of specialized mercenaries to fight the growing threat from alien invaders in strategic turn-based fights.

It's the year 2025. Just as humanity stands on the cusp of its demise, extraterrestrials show up and promise to solve all of Earth's problems: energy shortages, disease and poverty are soon to be a thing of the past. But what's in it for these mysterious visitors? As leaders of an underground resistance force who can guess at the reason behind the aliens' motivations, players head out on action-packed PvE campaigns to uncover the truth.

Players research new technologies and train their fighters in their base, which can continually be expanded. This is where the next missions get planned out; these then unfold in high-quality 3D graphics thanks to the Unity graphics engine. The game is being developed by Funatics, the developer studio behind "Cultures Online". The core team of developers was also involved in the cult classic strategy games "Incubation" and "Battle Isle".

Patrick Streppel, Executive Board Member at gamigo, said this: "UFO Online – Fight for Earth follows in the tradition of the great classic tactical games while raising the bar for 3D browser-based MMOGs with its great depth that will appeal to all hardcore gamers. This game will be another top-notch game in our portfolio and will also help build on our successful cooperation with Funatics."

A story trailer is available for download and on YouTube.

Magic Campus enchants browsers

Hamburg, March 10, 2011 – Today gamigo announced the strategic browser-based role-playing game Magic Campus. The Flash-based game can be played entirely in the browser window but still offers a gameplay experience akin to that of any client-based game. In exciting turn-based battles like the kind we know and and love from Japanese role-playing games, players can even call on companions they have caught for assistance.

While out exploring the world, almost every creature can be caught, tamed and added to one's group. In addition to the unique graphics style, these companions are one of the highlights of the game: They have unique skills and can be trained by the player, equipped and made into even better fighters.

120 levels, a multi-tiered crafting and enhancement system, a wealth of skills, a lively economy, thousands of quests and nearly 650 different companions all combined to give the game a rich depth. RPG fans will feel right at home in the complex gameplay of Magic Campus. The mentor system, in which experienced players help new players get started, as well as many help pages and community features make finding one's way into the game easy.

Patrick Streppel, Executive Board Member at gamigo, said this: "The days of static browser games are over: Instead the trend calls for vibrant online worlds with thousands of players that can run on computers, tablets or cell phones without having to install anything. Magic Campus also shows that, just because a browser game is easy to get started playing, it doesn't necessarily lack the complexity of an RPG."

Registration for closed beta testing is now open on the game's official website.
