Majestic - The Game That Plays You - Is Live And Available Online

REDWOOD CITY, CA - July 31, 2001 - Get ready to be played…Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) announces today that Majestic™, the eagerly anticipated online suspense thriller experience from EA.com, is live and available online at www.majesticthegame.com. Since its initial announcement last fall, Majestic has inspired and established a new and innovative medium for interactive entertainment created exclusively for the Internet.

The game places players in the center of a powerful suspense thriller where the lines of reality are quickly blurred. It is a groundbreaking form of entertainment that interacts with players via e-mail, instant messaging, voicemail, fax and the Internet. Unlike any online gaming experience to date, Majestic decides when it is time to engage and summons players to their PCs.

Majestic revolutionizes online gaming as it delivers its content episodically over a full season. The first season of Majestic will launch with the free pilot, subsequently followed by monthly episodes exclusively available on the Platinum Service available through EA.com for an introductory price of $9.99/per month.

"We wanted to produce something that could compete with television in its storytelling, but would not compromise interactivity in the process," says Neil Young, Vice President, Executive in Charge of Production and Creator of Majestic. "We're the first to create a new form of entertainment specifically for the medium of the Internet and are very excited with the end result."

The project has generated an enormous amount of excitement and interest in advance of its launch. Entertainment Weekly recently named Young its IT GAMER as part of their annual "It List," which spotlights the 100 most creative people in entertainment. Young was the only representative from the gaming industry to garner a coveted spot on the list. In addition, at the 2001 E3 trade show (Electronic Entertainment Expo), Majestic received one of the game industry's most prestigious awards, as it was selected from more than 750 projects to be named Best Original Game by the E3 Game Critics.

Majestic carries an ESRB rating of "Mi," for Mature audiences and players must be 18 or older to play.
