3D World War II Development Update
First off, updated public demo v2.5 should be out sometimes before the end of the week. We've received
enormous amounts of feedback regarding v2.0 after its release, a few weeks ago, and well, v2.5 is
coming to fix most if not all the bugs and gameplay issues that plagued v2.0. Also new in v2.5, is the
music that will be featured in the final version.
After the demo is out, the development team will have another 5 weeks before the gold master is sent to
printing (we're still planning to have the game in stores on August 1st). In two weeks or so we are
planning to start the public beta testing period. Therefore, the beta sign-ups are open as of today.
The number of beta copies available is limited, we will be looking for people with different system
configurations, and finally, the beta copies availability is based on "first come - first served"
basis, so the sooner the users apply, the higher are their chances to participate. We are VERY interested in people on lower generation machines signing up for the beta as we are planning to make the low quality game version to work even on P1-233 machines so their participation in beta testing would be invaluable. As usual, members of the press should apply to me directly to get their copy. The beta copies will be shipped on CDs, but game patches will have to be downloaded from the internet, so I personally recommend that only people on fairly fast connections apply. Here - http://www.3dwwii.com/betasignup.html , people are able to
sign up for the beta test.
As well I would like to remind that the preorders for the game are already being taken, as we're afraid
that there won't be enough copies produced to satisfy the demand - http://www.3dwwii.com/order.html .
And to close this e-mail... Here's a snip of what we're planning to implement in the final game
version, comparing to the demo:
1) Brand new in-game as well as menu interface.
2) A storyline that will let you know what's happening in the missions.
3) Engine generated cutscenes.
4) Two game versions - high quality for fast machines and low quality (well, the one that you see in
the demo) for lower end machines.
5) Some redone animations.
6) Realistic vehicle damage.
7) Realistic crosshairs for each weapon.
and much, much more...
