Nexon America Reports Massive 36 Percent Revenue Growth for 3rd Quarter
Nexon America saw revenue jump more than 36 percent in the third quarter amid
the economic downtown, a sign customers are enthusiastic about the company’s
slate of high-quality games and new content.
Underlining the success of the third quarter were revenue numbers for September,
which jumped 44 percent, compared to September 2008. This goes along with the
company’s growth trend during this past summer when Nexon America’s revenues
grew 35 percent in July and 32 percent in August compared to the same time frame
last year.
“We are on the verge of having a very strong year,” said Daniel Kim, Nexon
America’s CEO. “It’s a testament to the quality and accessibility of our
free-to-play games and the amount of new content we have been delivering to our
customers. Our hard work has earned us a level of loyalty among our player base
that cannot be matched.”
Kim added that the positive revenue numbers reflect the activity of Nexon’s
games - MapleStory, Combat Arms, and Mabinogi - which have all been in service
for more than a year. Combat Arms, the most recent addition to Nexon’s service,
launched October 1, 2008.
“Increasing our revenues without having added any new games to the company’s
portfolio for more than a year tells me that we are on the right track,” Kim
said. “Dungeon Fighter Online is just ramping up, so no revenues generated by
that game are reflected in the outstanding third quarter we’ve had.”
The positive growth comes amid an exciting time for Nexon America. Last week,
Dungeon Fighter Online opened its item shop, allowing players to purchase
in-game items. The game is still in an open beta stage and the official launch
of Dungeon Fighter Online will be announced later. Additionally, the company is
preparing beta testing later this year for BlockParty.com, its new game
portal/social network site.
