Pandemic Brisbane's Dark Knightmare

How Pandemic's Dark Knight Turned Into A Nightmare on Kotaku Australia follows up on indications that Pandemic Brisbane is being closed by Electronic Arts. They say the "alpha" development team from the Aussie studio is still together, and retains rights to their Wii project codenamed "the next big thing," but that EA has indeed "restored the developer's independence." They offer differing, sometimes conflicting, opinions from some of the folks at the studio about what lead to this situation, describing a number of missteps, most significant being the studios' efforts at developing a game tie-in with the Dark Knight movie, which slipped past the Batman movie's run in theaters and then missed the DVD release before the license lapsed. At one point the development team for the Dark Knight game swelled to over 130, but time constraints ended up killing the project, and to some degree, the studio.
