Those waiting for Godot will be pleased to learn that the Godot Engine is now available, offering a free "fully featured, open source, MIT licensed, game engine" for Windows, Linux, and OS X game development (thanks Ant via Slashdot). This is in beta, and they are encouraging users to collaborate on the future direction of the project, though they note that Godot already has "a track-record of more than a decade of published games." Here's more: "It focuses on having great tools, and a visual oriented workflow that can export to PC, Mobile and Web platforms with no hassle. The editor, language and APIs are feature rich, yet simple to learn, allowing you to become productive in a matter of hours."
