The 17th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards were handed out last night in an event that could have been called the Last of Us awards, as Naughty Dog's PS4 action/adventure took many honors, including Game of the Year and Adventure Game of the Year, along with others that seem to be variations on the GotY theme such as Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction; Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction; Outstanding Achievement in Animation; Outstanding Innovation in Gaming; and (we're not making this up) Outstanding Achievement in Visual Engineering. A few PC games where honored along the way, from the obvious, as BioShock Infinite was honored as Action Game of the Year and for Original Music, to the head-scratchers, as Diablo III was voted Role Playing/Massively Multiplayer Game of the Year in spite of fan discontent and the action/RPG sequel only vaguely actually falling into either of those categories. The other PC honorees are XCOM: Enemy Within, which took the award for strategy/simulation game of the year, World of Tanks, which is Online Game of the Year, and the multiplatform FIFA 14, named Sports Game of the Year. As was previously announced the show also inducted Rockstar's Leslie Benzies, Dan Houser, and Sam Houser into the AIAS Hall of Fame and arcade game trailblazer Eugene Jarvis was honored with their Pioneer Award.
