Bethesda addressed the situation with Prey 2 to IGN, after remaining silent about the status of the shooter sequel conspicuously amid comments from Human Head about how the game was basically done (missed this yesterday, thanks GameSpot). Bethesda's Pete Hines explains the game simply still isn't up to their standards. ďWe spent years and millions of dollars and a ton of effort trying to help Human Head make a great Prey 2 game. What we said the last time we said anything was that itís not up to our quality standards," Hines told them. "Itís simply not good enough. Weíre not going to just proceed blindly with something that isnít good enough. Weíve been very specific about why, and weíve been very specific about the whats. When that gets addressed and changed or whatever, at that point we can give an update. But nobodyís disappointment is greater than ours. We spent a lot of time and money and effort trying to make this thing happen and support folks, but at the same time, you just canít keep throwing money at it and saying, Ďsure, itíll eventually work.í You have to have the discipline to say, Ďitís not good enough. Itís not hitting the quality bar. Why isnít it? Weíve been at this for a while, and what we have is not what we talked about.í So thatís where we are."
