Ars Technica has more on the outcry over changes to Entertainment Consumer Association membership cancellation procedures. They follow-up on the ECA's explanation that they've made it more difficult to opt out of the group to prevent abuse of their Amazon incentives by explaining how the incentives were abused, and then explaining why changing membership cancellation procedures doesn't really effect the Amazon incentives (which are no longer offered). They got a response from the ECA, who did not actually address the questions about this they were asking, leading to this conclusion: "Until the ECA describes how it was hurt by fraudulent uses of its benefits, this fiasco is going to continue to be a black eye for the group. The ECA claimed that its members brought this upon themselves by exploiting the system, but descriptions of those exploits highlight the lack of logic behind the group's response. The ECA is a consumer advocacy group: blaming its members for unfriendly cancellation policies isn't the best way to gain the trust of gamers."
