There are six Quake newsgroups to serve six different functions, not to ensure six times the chance of receiving a response to a cross-posted question. Pick the group appropriate to your topic. Also, especially if you are seeking the answer to a question, lurk (read) for a while before posting. The most common questions are asked and answered repeatedly, so hang out, and look for where someone else asked how to get the red key on level two (joke for old Doom newsgroup junkies), and laugh along like a veteran as he gets flamed for being a newbie (someone will answer his question, too).
