Subject: Zoid's recent plan update
Though I agree with nearly everything in Zoid's most recent plan update, I think he placed the cheating line a bit too close in the pipe. At least, for my sake, I hope he did =)
>>>> I think the true player plays Quake and Quakeworld with nothing but the default settings or those settings that are changeable in the Options menu. I play with default settings, because I feel hacking various client variables (much less model hacks!) change the game into something that isn't Quake anymore. <<<<
I'm not talking about model hacking not being cheating. (Hell, I didn't even know you could do that heh) But to say that going to the console and upping your sensitivity is cheating is drawing the line a bit too far. I find it hard to believe that most people out there don't have that setting jacked up to about twice what the menu's allow. I always play with FOV 100, and I can see that as perhaps pushing the line, but not exactly crossing it.
Maybe I'm just nervous I'm in the same boat as the model hackers? I doubt it, I don't even use GOD and such in single player mode -- at least, not the first time through =) There are other client side variables I could set, and I still wouldn't consider it cheating. I'm curious what the rest of the community thinks.
