LOL! Yeah. How long before WoW implements a music system? It may sound stupid, but it's actually a lot of fun.

@PvH, why would you doubt it? I had fun in WoW for a couple of years up until I decided I wanted a life outside of gaming but let's face it, there were few things about WoW that were new or innovative. Blizzard took a bunch of ideas from previous MMOs and implemented them in better ways for the most part. Now they have the money to sit back and let other games come up with new and better ideas that they can then take and add to WoW.
I mean seriously, Blizzard basically stole GamesWorkshop's IP with the look of WoW. So much so that the WoW fanbois to this day still claim that Warhammer "looks too much like WoW".
Every MMO attempts to take ideas from previous ones. Why wouldn't they? It only makes sense to look at what's worked and what hasn't in previous games.

i highly doubt that. care to elaborate? Another poster mentioned the deed/achievement system. LOTRO's quest management system is a significant improvement over WoW's - I think 6 or so months after LOTRO was out, WoW started to add ! and ? markers to the minimap for quest givers/enders rather then a generic yellow dot. LOTRO also had a very detailed minimap, with markers for various vendors, trainers etc. which WoW has only recently added as well.
Those are just a couple off the top of my head.

For example WoW just implemented an achievement system similar to the Lotro deed system. But it's pretty hard to say which game copies from which, the whole genre is evolving.

Yep, it's actually a pretty good game. I'd say the best WoW alternative available anyhow.

Well, obviously enough people to keep the game viable after close to two years.
I actually quite enjoyed the game - it actually brought some innovations/improvements which WoW has later on copied, the developers do a great job envisioning Tolkein's world, and the graphics are very well done. I will likely return for the expansion, just to see how they do Moria. |
