A new "Stormdrains Level" movie from Mirror's Edge released at GC 2008 is
now available online, offering an extended look at gameplay from DICE's upcoming
first-person action game. The clip focuses on the game's acrobatic
parkour-inspired maneuvers, but a brief glimpse of combat is also included. You
can find the clip on
ActionTrip and
AtomicGamer. There is also a preview of
the game on Play.tm.

This reminds me of what Oni should/could have been, from Bungie's detailed musings on it before it was shown for the first time.

From what I've seen and read, the levels are not completely linear. You still have to get from point A to point B and it isn't an open-world game, but you do have multiple ways to do it. It's kinda like multiple routes in a racing game.
And yeah, you can turn off the color assistance.

I read that you can turn the red markers off. Supposedly they only show the most obvious path through the levels, not necessarily the best/shortest ones.

Again my issue with the video are 3 things. 1) the person playing knew exactly where stuff was, so some of the blind jumps were a turn off, unlike where in the first demo they actually looked around the room to see where to go. 2)This is basically a jumping version of the old Star War Rebel Assault game. Every thing they have shown of this game indicated there is only 1 way to go. Which puts replaying the game very low. 3) What the hell is with all the ladders with 3 rungs on them? Ya think whoever built the useless pillars out in the middle of a huge room would have FULL ladders to the platforms.
Granted it looks cool, but game play wise I don't see alot happening with the overall game. Not to mention that if people were puking cause of the boat levels in Half Life 2, tons of people are gonna be throwing up playing this.

Yeah, reminds me of HL. Looks decent. There does seem to be some skill, probably need to make fine adjustments left and right when walking across the narrow pipes for instance.
They perhaps didn't choose the best section of the game to show off the gameplay though. Running straight and jumping x 6. If the maps are huge (Which they appear to be) and there's lots of stuff to do, I think it'll be great.

As long as it has deeper gameplay than Assassin's Creed. It's kind of retarded to just be holding a button down to make the game do damn near everything for you. At least introduce a little skill to the equation.

This isn't a first-person shooter. It's a first-person platformer.

If there's one thing that's great about first person shooters, it's jumping puzzles. Everybody loves those.
Looks okay though.
