I propose we stop fooling around and just admit that August is just one big
gaming convention. Rather than several smaller demos, game companies could
concentrate on making a big splash at a single venue. We could call it AugustCon
or something, maybe… E3. Okay, maybe things are better this way.

Doesn't ebay adjust the bid to just top the current highest bid or just over the reserve, and not the actual amount entered by the bidder?
So if the current bid is 150, and the reserve is 200, and I put in 200000 wouldn't it just go up to 201?

Just making sure I wasn't loosing it as well.
Tried the demo, it's like Lucasarts took every single crate and barrel from every game that ever had one and stuffed them in the demo level. I posted some more feedback over in the console section, if they would allow a locked camera view I think the game would be more tolerable.

nin you talking about the console version of Jedi Academy? As I'm pretty sure the camera was stuck in 1 position on the PC.
It was, but most people don't like this style of static camera. It gives a much greater degree of control, but it also has FPS feel to it and most folks seem to prefer more of a loose camera for 3rd person games. I much prefer the locked behind the player style. |

nin you talking about the console version of Jedi Academy? As I'm pretty sure the camera was stuck in 1 position on the PC. It was (the PC version of JA), but as you turned with the mouse, the camera moved also. FU tries to do that, but when it gets close to a wall (or object) it's like it get stuck and the character continues to move...
It's a little hard to explain, but when you play it, it feels "off".
That, and I don't feel very well today, sorry if I'm not clear...

It sounds fun, but I don't want to deal with the dumb-cumbersome-ass controller. I hope they port it to PC. I don't mind ports, as long as they're fun to play ...

Hey nin - - how much similar (in game play) is Force Unleashed to Jedi Academy? Well...the problem is here you have no contol over the camera. So it attempts to stay behind you, but you also have to option of right clicking on the right stick to force it back there...and sometimes it seems to move to an odd angle almost beside you and then you end up running in a circle for a second to get your bearings/controls back to normal...(since Up on the L stick is to moving forward, relative to where you're pointing)
With JA, you could move the camera with the mouse, and look around, and from the 20 minutes I spent with FU (heh!) I didn't get that same sense of control.
I don't mean to dwell on just one issue, but that's the one that I constantly kept running into problems with.

Well they always travel in groups. You have the older senior citizen guy who's probably a ex-disgruntle high school janitor who couldn't make it into the police force (but watch the entire Hawaii 5-0 series), and a young guy just trying to earn money, but can actually chase down 'perps'. Not to mention getting the older guy something to drink from the food court.

Anyone else read that headline and think a rabid fox attacked a security guard? The studio and movie, for some reason, never entered my mind until I clicked through to the actual story.

Shouldn't that read: "Warner will kill Watchmen"? The last Alan Moore series that went to screen was hacked by hacks and turned into a political rant. I surely hope they don't do that to the Watchmen.

Force Unleashed thoughts - only got to spend about 15 minutes with it this morning. Got in early, so the download was quick...
Pretty.
Camera is a PITA.
When I hit Jump and then Attack to hit a guy, I instead hover in mid air, thrashing wildly at no one.
How many times do I have to force push that guy before he finally dies?
Hey! I just took a direct blast from a TIE Fighter and didn't take much damage?!
Lopping droids in half is fun. But lopping gungans in half would have been far far more fun.
Speaking of lopping, no dismemberment? I'm supposed to be a sith, it's not like we gently tag people and move on to the next guy.
Randomly pulling shit off the walls with force pull actually starts get boring after awhile, surprisingly.
Is there no easy way to target people?
Did I mention the camera sucks?
Not looking good, so far...will give it another shot tonight.
