The AMD Drivers & Software Page
is your starting place to find the new version 8.7 Catalyst reference drivers
for ATI Radeon accelerators. The new Windows drivers offer performance
improvements, bug fixes, and an enhancement to the Catalyst Control Center
Information Center. The Linux drivers add support for Ubuntu 8.04, SLED 10 sp2,
and Open Suse 11.

Well, I hope your issue is related to the problem I was having. For a more indepth discussion, here's a thread about it: http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=131328
Took me a long time to stumble across this fix! For a while I was convinced it was a hardware issue of some sort.

Thanks for the suggestion Mark. I made the change, but I'll have to wait til later to test it for any length of time. If I can get it to work for more than an hour, I'll consider that a successful test. Gonna let my wife know that I need to spend some time stress-testing my system tonight

Hi there Wowbagger_TIP, do you know about the "PagedPoolSize" issue? Go Start > Run, type "Regedit" and navigate to the following folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
Double click "PagedPoolSize" and take note of the value in the box. (You'll probably want to change it back if modifying it has no effect.) Change the value to "10000000" (without the quotes) and restart your computer. Run a game and see if the problem still occurs.

-I tried this 8.7 driver and it don't work with the Visiontek ATI Radeon XT2600 AGP card. Suppose it doesn't for 2xxx and later.
Just an f.y.i to any XP users out there.
The AGP Radeon Visiontek 8.6 Driver Hotfix has been out for a few weeks now. I (s.w.a.t) posted the link, (thanks Ati)to it on Visiontek's forums. Works with the Visiontek XT2600 AGP, 2xxx and later cards using XP OS.
The driver was also added to their main Support/Driver page.

Wonder if this will fix my problem. Ever since I reloaded my system (WinXP Pro 32-bit) and got everything updated completely, I have been having problems with all my graphics-intensive games (TF2, COD4, etc). The screen will go black, and then sometimes come back after 15-30 seconds, and sometimes it will go black and lockup completely (sound goes into some kind of repetitive loop when that happens).
I've been going through it with AMD/ATI support, but none of their suggestions have worked, and now they're saying that it might be the card and that I should test it in another system. I don't have another system to test it in, and the card has worked just fine for the last year and a half. I don't think reloading Windows broke it. Frustrating stuff...
