I'm using the free version of Bitdefender, which doesn't seem to get evaluated in the "free virus shootouts" - but the pay-for version of Bitdefender is usually top-rated. Small, fast, very good (simple) interface compared to the opposition, I'm glad I found it.

Is this the patch that makes it less of a resource pig, and stops it from spamming web sites? For fucking real. Don't even get me started on AVG 8, I was so pissed off when I "upgraded" to it. I left AVG 7.5 on my second system, and it will stay that way as long as they keep releasing definition updates for it.
Same here, I like it better than AVG except that you have to leave the scheduler process going all the time. I don't leave AV running all the time, I just manually scan my downloads and do a full system scan about once a month. I've never had a virus, so that works for me.
Edit: Nevermind, I'm using AntiVir not Avast. I tried all of the free solutions out there and found AntiVir to be the lease resource hungry. This message was edited at Jul 6, 00:44. |

I rather like Gallagher, even though he tends to speak out of his arse a lot. In fact he's practically an expert on voicing his often uninformed opinion on a wide range of topics, so it's to be expected that he'd eventually get to games too.
He's pretty funny on the Russell Brand show, though. His Beatles cover band isn't bad, either.

Is this the patch that makes it less of a resource pig, and stops it from spamming web sites? I've not noticed the ads before, but I certainly noticed the resource increase. Not sure if this was something they just added or I just now figured out how to do it, but you can now ignore component alerts. Which is good, cause its annoying to see the little icon in the corner telling you you've done something wrong when you've disabled a useless feature.
