"theoretically possible".

first off I will state: PC gaming is not dead.

Secondly: Blizzard employees stated there will be no console release.

Third: Time travel is "theoretically possible".

I honestly don't see why Diablo 3 couldn't be as good on a console. Mmmm...Diablo 3 on a 42" LCD? Come on, that's cool. And if it's pure analog hack and slash, more power to it. Diablo was never a game with a complicated control scheme. In fact, instead of just clicking and holding the mouse button in the direction you want your little guy to run, an analog stick would suffice nicely.

You know, this is a similar thing to when IL2 came out and there were all these grognards who insisted it could never be on a console because it was too complicated. Even Maddox couldn't resist that it would seem.

If IL2 can make the jump, so can Diablo.

Oh, and I do kind of like the console Civilization game...I don't know why, but I enjoyed the demo.

The Blizzard guy is being coy. The relatively simple polygons of the screenpics of Diablo 3 strongly suggest Blizzard was already thinking about porting this down the road to consoles. The precision and speed of the mouse is ideal for Diablo but that wont stop blizzard from making it work on a console controller. Look at the new console Civ 3: I dont love the that version of the game but the GUI is impressively well thought out.

Honestly, I don't see how Blizzard can ignore the console market given the amount of potential revenue waiting for them.
They can ignore it because they already make millions off of WoW on a monthly basis.

I was going to say, Diablo was on the PSOne.

No reason that Diablo 3 couldnt be on the PS3 since there is Mouse & Keyboard support. They would still need to work a control option for the gamepad. As long as they keep things faithful for the M+K option...

Am I the ONLY one here who played Diablo on the first Sony Playstation?

I didn't have a computer, so it was my only option. It played great to me.

The game is already going to be playable with stupidly simple control schemes. The gameplay video itself even mentioned it would be playable with 1 hand(the mouse), allowing you to mouse scroll through the skills to select them. Simply having your left stick control your character, right stick on camera(if controllable), and a simple way to assign buttons to different skills and its ready for console. There's nothing deep about Diablo controls or gameplay that require more than a gamepad.

Someone actually said that Diablo would have to be "dumbed down"? No, it wouldn't. Your average console title is far more complex than Diablo.

The only real issue is control. I think it would have to be an offshoot of the series, not the same game that the PC gets.

funny how even radical '60's hippies and rockers fall prey to the generation gap.
I've always thought Plant and Page were a little conceited about their music. As far as not enough money, maybe, but they've also had ample opportunities to make buckets and haven't. Though I'm often left confused as to things they do lend their intellectual property out to, Puff Daddy,Come with me... the Godzilla movie, seriously!?

if EA can make something as fiddly as C&C work on the console then a game like Diablo would be a piece of cake for a talented group like Blizz.
Indeed. I would definitely buy a 360 version of Diablo 3. Would be nice to have direct control over your character via one of the analog sticks.

The decision was said to be motivated simply by PC being the most appropriate platform for the game.
Quote of the day. Now if only more developers and console kiddies would realize that PC is the most appropriate platform for shooters...

Diablo wouldn't be miserable without a mouse, it'd be like X-Men Legends. Hack n' Slash works fine on a gamepad.

Depends on how they implement the control scheme. It's difficult to imagine it being as good as it is on the PC, but it's surprising what devs can come up with sometimes. Maybe with things like the Wiimote we might see something comparable.

Having said that if they just dumb down the game to make it console friendly then they're shooting themselves in the foot.

According to their management, the band isn't "comfortable" giving up access to its master tapes, the very thing required to edit these things down to Rock Band and Guitar Hero ready formats.
IOW: they haven't been offered enough money yet.

I generally agree with what he's saying though, out of all their games, Diablo would be the most console friendly. The original game made it to the PSone, so why not at least consider the console market.

That being said, my $$$ would be spent on th PC version of course...

    Console Diablo "theoretically possible".
Theoretically yes....technically....NO!
I liked the comments made earlier this week to the tune of, "When you have to develop for multiple platforms, the PC suffers".

Not word for word, but that is basically what Blizzard said.
