Happy Independence Day! It's a bit rainy around here, and I feel a bit guilty hoping this quells the fireworks for the sake of Hudson the wonder dog's rattled nerves, since kids enjoy the festivities so much. I doubt it makes much difference, though, as even if the rain becomes heavy enough to quash anything today, any leftover munitions will surely get used over the days that follow.

    1. When I am done with the game.....I am done. Why 50 levels then? I made it to something like 25. So when I complete it with Character 1 - that character is useless? Stupid. I mean. Seriosuly. wtf. Someone explain this to me.

Yes, they are two separate things but looking throught the rest of the article and forum I can see they have been brought together in a matter of sorts.

The fact that a good portion of the voting populace blames the current administration for all of the problems in America underscores the ignorance and lemmings blindly following a "cause".

If people want to blame someone; blame your fellow voters. Laws don't get passed and bills don't get signed by just one man. If you vote, then it is the individuals fault they elected the incompetent.

There's a lot of finger-pointing and name calling already in America. People don't think of outcome or consequence anymore.

Therefore, I once again, refuse to vote. I feel a non-vote is just as powerful as a vote.
I forget how it all works down there, but up here I vote for who most closely reflects my values and beliefs even if they only have a point 001 chance of getting elected.

Perhaps that's why we have a fourth party up here that is at around five percent. Sure, they don't get any say in anything but at least it shows the 'powers that be' that people care about something else.

You should vote anyways. And if merkins really don't have a choice (which I find hard to believe), then vote for the lesser of the two evils.

Don't squander your right. If you do then I don't want to hear a peep out of you regarding politics for the next four years.

There's zero reason to play Diablo 1 if you have Diablo 2. In fact if you're just going to be playing by yourself there is zero reason to play Diablo 2 as the patches now are geared entirely for online play.

If you're just going to play yourself then get Dungeon Siege 2 going, or possibly Titan Quest.

so by choosing to sell your vote you're not making a choice?
There is the (hypothetical) choice to sell your vote, and there is the choice you make when you vote. Those are two entirely separate things. If you can't fathom the difference, then perhaps you are one of those lemming-like automatons you describe.

Therefore, I once again, refuse to vote. I feel a non-vote is just as powerful as a vote.
Why not vote for Bob Barr?

Just played through Diablo 1. Going to start D2 tonight. I am confused though.

1. When I am done with the game.....I am done. Why 50 levels then? I made it to something like 25. So when I complete it with Character 1 - that character is useless? Stupid. I mean. Seriosuly. wtf. Someone explain this to me.

2. If I cant use character 1 that I beat the game with - does that mean I have to start over from scratch with another character to play through Hellfire? WTF! I am not going to invest that amount of time again to play through the game again!

3. Someone explain....I can't find much online about it.

/edit: ok - so I started a new game. Well I wish I would have known that. I dumped all of my gold and a bunch of awesome stuff in town before I tried to beat Diablo. Now, with a new game, it obviously isn't there. Crap. I had 150k in town. Oh well. On to D2. (I was told to save right when you beat him - not sure why - so now I am fct.)

I know I am an idiot - so don't bother posting that. Needless to say, I can fly through the game pretty quick again if I felt the need....can't remember what I did 11 years ago....oh well.

You got a great body, but your record collection sucks....

All I know is this:

This country is not ready for a black president, thus Obama won't win. (We aren't evolved enough to do so - sadly)
That is not to say I would want that idiot to win....

But, you watch McCain speak? WHAT A FUCKING IDIOT!

Therefore, I once again, refuse to vote. I feel a non-vote is just as powerful as a vote.

The two party system is broken. But they purchase their votes - so they win each time. We are fuct.

Selling your vote is selling your freedom of choice, and freedom of choice is the essence of democracy.
so by choosing to sell your vote you're not making a choice? Hmm. I feel a Rush chorus coming on.

People are like lemmings. Push enough toward a cliff and tell them it's salvation and they'll get more to join them in the big jump. Freedom of choice means freedom of opinion. If you watch video of boosters for either party you'll see the individuals blindy following the tide of propaganda and not an individual belief.

Some think the current administration is marching us to a Tiananmen Square scenario. This is incorrect.

My father told me "Son it's futile to resist. You can topple the ideology but not the armies they enlist."
And the reason i pull this quote is to point out one simple fact; neither party is trying to cover up the fact that they no longer care about the individual. Reps and Dems have segregated America into race, religion, sexual orientation, color and class. They are not looking for an individual vote. Individuals have ceased to exist since 1988.

Edit - Happy Fourth everyone!

No, it's not like buying votes because it's up to each individual person to believe the ad or not. Selling your vote is selling your freedom of choice, and freedom of choice is the essence of democracy.

Freedom of choice is what you got. Freedom from choice is what you want. -- DEVO

Tomato/Tomato.

So the ads showing Spanish actors supporting Obama isn't like buying votes? Spending more money may not guarantee a victory but pandering to a constituency based on race doesn't hurt...

Edit: Just a note - I'm not voting for either candidate because it just doesn't pay. Too bad this isn't like Brewster's Millions.

Notice the back pedlin'. Try and stand up in front of a group of people and make that comment while having the dollars spent by the D and R parties in the last 16 months on a large screen behind you!
But in this case, the student is literally allowing his vote to be purchased. The parties don't spend money to literally purchase votes, they spend it to make their candidate more well known. Spending more money than the other guy doesn't guarantee victory. But if votes could be bought and sold, it would mean that whoever has the most money automatically wins.

By the way, he's not being persecuted, he's being prosecuted.

Auction: Student charged with trying to sell vote on eBay.
I find issue with this kid being persecuted.
Espically considering from the article:
There are two things going on here in terms of why it's a crime," he said. "One is the notion that elections should be a contest of ideas and not of pocketbooks -- at least not in the sense of straight-out 'I can buy your vote.' The second notion is that everybody gets one vote, and you don't get to buy another one."

Independence Day, or as it's known here in the UK, Thanks Giving.

Independence Day, celebrating terrorism since America's birth!*

The American War of Independence, a British civil war in which France beat Germany. Now that's messed up!

OK, that's enough catty trolling, it's all meant in good humour. Congratulations and celebrate safely! I know you've got Fox news but at least you've avoided the Daily Mail. It's not as in-your-face as Fox but it's even more poisonous.

* I'm Northern Irish, so I can joke about terrorism, just like Jewish people can make Jew jokes.
